Preamble : This is more aimed at other people who are familiar with/are fans of the RGG series.
If you're a newcomer and want to start the series, I suggest looking at Y0 or the first Kiwami. Hell, even emulating the first 2 games is a good way to experience the story despite the jank of the PS2 controls.

At the time of writing this, the game stands at a 84% overall positive review score here on Steam. I haven't really ever checked the percentage of any positive review score on steam, but this time my interest was piqued.
I can't really tell if it was with the way I was playing, or the game balance being shifted more towards incentivizing dungeon raids, but this was the first time playing any RGG game where I had to stop, look at my screen and say to myself "This isn't fun, and I don't want to spend more time playing this". I say this as someone who beat both Kiwami 2 and Y6, and don't really take any pleasure in it because I REALLY, REALLY wanted to enjoy this long-requested localization... but I can't. The stiffness of movement and combat paired with the updated visuals and lighting feels extremely mismatched and more like a fan-made mod rather than an actual release. As stated before, the balance seems to have been shifted more towards pushing people into the dungeon side-activity and experimentation with the trooper cards which might've been a really major mistake. There are SO many trooper cards to find according to the register, but the most you'll ever need is just the grand total of 16 elite trooper cards according to the most popular build suggestions on the internet.
However, this requires grinding. A LOT of grinding. As about half of the cards (without the DLC) drop randomly from random fights.
Speaking of which, when you get to the part where Dungeon missions are introduced, the UI permanently shifts to allocate space to those cards because they can now be used OUTSIDE of those missions in free roam or story sections. And yes, the story bosses now use some effects of those cards too. Let's say you might enjoy this system, sure, but would you enjoy those cards now actively taking up space where your style icons used to be? What if they kept constantly glimmering and bobbing up and down? Because that's what happens. It gets annoying very fast and unequipping all of the cards doesn't get rid of the new UI. In fact, unequipping them puts you in an active disadvantage because it also takes away the passive buffs those cards provide.
A big theme with this release, as I've noticed, is grinding. Even the blacksmith has been overhauled to be as grindy as possible.
Story-wise, I can't really comment as I haven't finished it nor do I plan to. I've found myself skipping a lot of dialogue in order to get to the next section of the gameplay only for it to last a total of 3 minutes before going back to a cutscene and having the chapter end. Can't really say that the story so far has been captivating, as it's more "grounded in reality" which doesn't really leave a lot of room to create something more memorable as RGG games tend to do and exaggerate.
It all makes one beg the question ; "Why didn't they just port and localize the game as it was?" or better yet : "Why didn't they just give it the complete Kiwami treatment instead?".

Overall, this is the first RGG game I've willingly dropped due to sheer boredom and disinterest at everything presented. I didn't really have any fun with it, and it felt more like a chore. This was NOT worth the money. I hope Infinite Wealth washes away the bad taste.

I held off on leaving a review until I managed to 100% the game and find it's secrets. ONLY TODAY has that been managed.

HOLY ♥♥♥♥, for a 7 € experience it has the depth of the Mariana Trench. I heavily recommend this to anyone who has a week to spare, or is in a general adventure game mood. I cannot put into words how much I enjoyed my time with it, along with making friends on the hunt for the secrets.
Here's to hoping the dev makes a sequel, or something similar.

Games alright. It does get a bit repetitive after you've played the seemingly same dungeon for the 5th time, but it doesn't really feel that boring. It's alright for the price.

You should give LGL your money.

Jokes aside, it's a shame this game's potential got squandered due to deadlines and lack of sales. The small hardcore community that spawned around this game though is genuinely the most I've had in a while. I'd highly recommend it. Got any bugs or problems? There's probably a mod to fix it. Poor performance? There's a mod for that. You get the point. It's a mess, yes... but it's a FUN mess.
Which is more than I can say for PAYDAY 2.

It's like Halo Infinite, but GOOD... and it won't melt your computer.
11/10 would waste time on again.

I'm unsure of why this is called an idle game, if anything it's a gotta go fast game. I guess im just used to idle games being unbearably slow and reseting absolutely everything, so this is a nice change of pace. Hats off to the dev.
