It requires you to be online to play a single player game
Don't get me wrong the game is great but i cannot recommend it with always online drm
if you boot the game without a internet connection you cannot get passed the loading screen i love this series but there is no reason to require an internet connection.
Edit:they added offline mode to steamdeck
if you want a workaround on windows put this text below in launch options on steam
cmd /c "set steamdeck=1 && %command%"
still don't recommend cause you should be able to play offline without having a workaround

I had a lot of fun on nuke.

Great game for people who hate boxes.
