Early Access Review
Game is completely non-functional on a 7800X3D, 7900XTX system. Logs in then sits at a never-ending loading screen after choosing a character. Have tried every single troubleshooting step suggested, even re-installed windows and did a full fresh run at my system. Game still doesn't work. It works on my semi-old laptop, but I have no interest in playing it there.

Hard no on this one until they fix the assortment of issues they have.

Work-around for my issue is apparently... turning on a VPN before I run the game. It's a new PC with a brand new motherboard. Drivers are up to date. Network adapter is standard and plugged into my wired network. Game will not load if I just run it normally. If I turn on a VPN before I log in... it works fine. No infinite loading screen. Have a Witch at level 27 and a Merc at level 7. So... the game does work. Still not recommending it until they clear up whatever on earth is going on with their network setup that has me (and a fair number of people across various forums and parts of their community) having to jump through VPN hoops to get past a loading screen. As soon as I turn the VPN off the infinite loading screen returns.

The game itself is super fun co-op shooting with some basic fortnight style battlepass stuff that doesn't seem egregious and has offered plenty of progression even to friends who did not pay any extra money for premium stuff. Unfortunately, that isn't where things stop.

Updating review on 3/8/24 a full month after release. Stability issues have been getting ironed out at good rates, crashes being minimized, etc. That's great.

Unfortunately their server setup is still inconsistent and unreliable. We're a full month past release and they still have not scaled up enough to not have their login servers die at peak hours on busy days. I made excuses for this for multiple weeks. I'm not anymore.

Until they fix their miserable server issues I do not recommend the game, as there's reasonable odds you just can't play it when you have time to play a game. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

The game still seems genuinely fun, but I can't recommend it to basically anyone until they fix the absolute disaster that is their server situation. How this happened after having 2 million people play the demo is kind of mystifying. There's no excuse for this game to be in this condition right now.

Either let people play singleplayer without the constant connection or fix your tech. If you can't, expect a lot of people requesting refunds. I know I'm considering it.

*Update*

They've largely fixed the game at this point. Things work mostly as they should, with the exception of the DX12 renderer which still stutters for some reason even on my 5800X/RTX3080 system. Go figure.

The prologue is still bad and makes a rough first impression, but once you start getting the class abilities and a few pieces of gear that change how or how often you use them, things start to open up and it gets to be a lot of fun. Worth a look, though I would still recommend playing the demo before you buy.
