Fantastic game, with nothing to do. All the framework is there, but all you can do is find a way to make money, in four, repetative, unexciting ways. Once you earn the money, you spend it on ships to do these tasks more quickly. I played this game for a total of 21 hours and I feel I have explored everything it has to offer. The huge expanse of space is only a pain to travel through, with the FSD drive (while in supercruise) is time consuming, and awkward to use. Most of the sectors in the galaxy are only used to collect random items like rebel transmissions or misplaced chemical weapons, making them almost completely redundant. In my opinion, allowing the player to explore the ENTIRE milky way galaxy was a waste of time, in my 21 hours playing the game, I visited a maximim of 15 systems, 10 of them being a solitary star with random mission items floating around them. The only way I can see the galaxy actually being fully (or even partially) utilized, is if there was a universal multiplayer server, or one in each available region at least. the current multiplayere is no different from solo. You run into someone else occasionally, only whilst docking of in FSD near a station. Aside from multiplayer, there is no interaction with NPCs. The economy is unbalanced, things like trading and doing missions get you a fair amount of money, but bounty hunting in resource extraction sites gets you far more money. An hour trading will get you 1-300,000 credits while an hour of bounty hunting can get you upwards of 600,000 credits. This game is a rinse and repeat, make money in one of a few ways, spend that money to make more money, faster. There is no point. However, there are MANY amazing aspects. The cockpit view is amazing. The controls are intuitive, fun and easy to learn. Navigation is beautiful (while sometimes confusing and tedious while supercruising withing a system) the 3D galaxy map is amazing, and I have little to no trouble finding where I need to go. The graphics are amazing, some of the stars I encounter are amazing to look at. The ships are awesome. Combat is sometimes unbalaced, depending on whaty kind of ship you are up against, but in most cases, fun and rewarding. The game is fairly well optimized, I have a mid-high ish end rig and I was getting 55-60 frames with every setting maxed out and Vsync enabled. The menues (while some are useless, like the functions page) are clearly lain out and navigating them with a keyboard and mouse is very doable. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to play this game with a joystick and throttle control, or an Oculus Rift, I have heard a myriad of positive comments regarding these. Overall, this game is a dissapointment, and too expensive for what it has to offer. It could be the game to derail the hype train that is Star Citizen. It is cheaper (in most cases), very similar, and could very well be, If much, much more is added to this game, better. I have high hopes for this game's future, with the coming addition of visitable planets and stations to walk around, it does seem bright. But for now, there is very little that makes this game worthwhile.
