BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

The explosion took me by surprise, one moment I was bracing myself against the door leading into my King's throne room, supported by my men. The next I was flying accross the room. I hit the wall and I felt my body give. My lungs were failing. I was struggling to breath. I did not register the sounds of battle, or the screams of the mortally wounded until all went silent. I looked to my weapon just inches from my side as I reached for it I noticed my arm was a bloody stub.

Before I could go into shock I heard footsteps approaching me keeping my mind focussed on surviving the couple moments. They were heavy steps from large metal shoes.

As I looked up to face what I was sure was my death, I saw instead the familar face of my Sergeant. A man who has campainged with me for nigh on 20 years.

There was sadness in his eyes.

Why is my Sergeant so distraught?

Have I not led him through the most desparately dark campaigns, wherein our ONLY hope for survival lay in the flesh of our dead brothers. What has managed to *cough* make him despair so badly that he would openly weep--

My mouth moves but I cannot seem to force any sound pass my lips. My vision starts to blacken. The last thing I feel is my sword being place in my good hand...

ONCE AGAIN INTO THE BREACH GENERAL!!!

CAN YOU NOT SEE THE ENEMY FALTERING???

THIS IS OUR FIGHT TO WIN!!!

DO YOU NOT HEAR ME GENERAL??? I SAID CHARGE!!!

We have fought and bled for this chance and you would sit it out? What of your brothers and sisters who lie dying and screaming for aid or even a swift death, crying for their mothers as they lose control of their bodies. Is this how you would honour them, with cowardice?

You make me sick.

What is that you ask? Why don't I charge with you? How dare you? Is it not I who has the more courageous task. Do not let the wine, food and this tent fool you. It is to dull my rage for I fear without it I would be first into the breach, and that would be the end of us all, for if I were to meet my end in such a glorious charge many, many innocents would suffer for it. I am but one man but I must carry this huge burden alone. Now order your men to CHARGE!!! Oh and General, if you see Rosalita on your way down to the battlefield tell her I have need of her services.

LIES... lies. This is not the dawn of war but the beginning of the apocalypse. Do not trust the words of a serpent, unless you wish to be betrayed. I say this from experience...

I believed him whole heartedly, hehe, it is only fitting he took a part of my heart with him, when he left me here to die. If only I had seen him for who he was. How could I have been so blind?

What use is there for 20/20 hindsight. It is to the future that I must look now. Only I can see it, for the arrogant fool chose to share with me his 'genius'... However, his plan is perfect.

I can see the snuffing out of the light that was the once great empire of man... I can stop it.

For him I pretended to be bold and brave. I am no such thing. I am cowardly and paranoid. Though I cannot stop my life from draining away I can strike back from beyond the grave to ruin his carefully laid plains. You will be my tool. I only wish I could be there the moment his realise that is was his ego that defeated him.

As the most senior Rose in the House of Seasons, I have many responsibilities. I am the watcher in the darkness. I am the Vanguard. The quiet before the storm. I am fear given form. I am flesh and blood just like any of you but I am not like you. Facing me, means your death. Running from me, means your death. You cannot win. You cannot hide. I never tire. I never give up. Once I deem you my prey, YOUR TIME IS UP... Alas, that is how it should have been.

Let me tell you of the War of the Roses... Let me tell you how Winter's Rose, the dragon of Bamburgh was brought low.

Riding high on my success at Bamburgh I had grown careless. Who could touch me now? I, who single-handedly destroyed the butcher, a man imbued with so much blood magic his mere presence was enough to kill a lesser man. I was not one such man, lucky for me. Oh, do not misunderstand. I have had much success over my long and bloody career as the Rose, but I had just broken through the glass ceiling. I had just transformed from a caterpillar into a butterfly. I was now a power, no longer just a dangerous tool. Kings, Princes even Emperors and their glorious numberless armies had been utterly destroyed by the monster, but not I. So, surely you could see why I had grown so carefree just days after my victory.

I was sent by my masters, the seasons, to end the butcher or die trying and now I was to return stronger than I ever been, more powerful than my, soon to be, ex masters could imagine. Once I had dealt with the seasons and taken my rightful place, I would then look to the world. Starting with England. With the butcher vanquished, England was ripe for the taking.

HAHAHA hehe... Such dreams I had...
