Do you like crafting survival games?

Do you enjoy crazy almost S.C.P.-like anomalies?

Are you a fan of rogue-like gameplay centered around getting stronger with each resource you gather and successfully bring back to base?

How about a fairly good story, told entirely through dialogue and text, without a single human character to be physically seen? (including yourself)

Do you enjoy tinkering and driving cars?

Man, you're weird.
But more importantly, you'd probably love this game.

We've stood up for the game, for the devs, and for Super Earth!

Let's start with the biggest questions first:
As of right now...

Is the game functional?
Yes. It's been on a very slow, but fairly upward trend in terms of functionality. The servers work, and the bugs have been and continued to be ironed out as things move along.

Is the game worth the price?
For base game, yeah. The price tag is pretty good, and the 2 free heists so far sweeten the deal even more, but the most recent single heist DLC is vastly overpriced, and I wouldn't recommend getting it unless you've already got the season pass, or it's on sale.
The season pass currently is only available for holders of the Gold or Silver edition, and they've not made good on their promise to allow players to purchase it post-launch. So I'm gonna give even further warning to either only buy base game for now, or just wait for a sale.
(Sale, preferably.)

Is the game fun?
Absolutely. They have done a good job mechanically with the gunplay, cooperation, the stealth overhaul, quite a lot under the hood honestly. All-in-all, I'd say it's a good objective based horde shooter where it stands.

How about the XP system?
It's... still not that great. They've improved it a bit, but it's still far from satisfying to level up the guns and yourself. It all becomes a mind numbing grind, if you're aiming for some very specific, level locked something-or-other.

Is the customization any good?
The fact that some masks can't be customized at all is a huge bummer, but ultimately not the biggest deal in the world (at least to me, personally). The gun customization is different to Payday 2's, but also has it's own bit of flair to it with weapon charms and stickers to go with the customizable paint jobs. And those that fancied the tailor packs of Payday 2 will like the return of clothing and glove choices as well, although costing C-Stacks, which brings me to...

C-Stacks? What's the deal with those?
Payday 2 had a problem with money; It was too easy to have more than you'll ever need. So in come C-Stacks. They're a different form of currency, that're bought with your earned money, and used to buy "higher tier" things. Cosmetics, paints, stickers, gloves, clothes, masks, weapon presets. And for some reason, specific weapon parts, which do offer weapon stat changes.

Well, what about the music? No more Simon, right?
Yes, Simon is gone. But Gustavo has been doing a pretty solid job of picking up where Simon has left off. He had some experience, doing the last several Payday 2 tracks, and has managed to create some pretty good stuff in what we've seen so far in Payday 3.

Alright, alright, so then would you say the game is at least worth getting?
If you have friends playing it: 100% yes.
It's probably some of the most fun I've had recently co-opping with friends.
If you're looking for a solo purchase... I'd say wait. While you CAN play it solo, I'd say the fun is far better with friends currently.

Didn't think much of the game until I decided to just buck up and nab it.
Holy crap has it given me so many moments of hilarity, scares, and everything between.

In no way is this a serious game, and honestly, that's the best part of it. Just boot it up and have a ball.

This game has met and exceeded a lot of my expectations for an arcade racer.
It brings me back to the days of playing Hot Wheels Turbo Racing as a kid, but with (understandably) even more polish and an astounding amount of love put into it.

At the end of the day, it's a licensed arcade racer, featuring die cast cars from your childhood.
...and they somehow nailed it perfectly. I can't recommend this game enough even if you're only slightly interested.

This'll be a bit scatterbrained of a review, so apologies in advance.

Upon playing the game's prologue/demo, I was extremely excited for this game. It seemed to hit all the right notes, the tone, the dialogue, the story, the choices, the puzzles, the stealth, everything.

...sadly, the only consistency after that, was the visuals and audio. The rest of the game feels like it just kinda loses direction halfway through and completely shifts gears.
It also doesn't take long to notice that your dialogue choices kinda... don't really matter. I feel like if you really wanted to, you could just button mash your way through almost everything after the prologue and still leave the game with as much information as you would had you been fully paying attention. The story does very little to fill you in on what's actually going on after it switches it's gears.
The text itself isn't horrible, although there's a fair few spelling and grammar mistakes I noticed. Far more than I'd think would normally slip through the cracks.

The inventory system honestly feels... like it was also forgotten halfway through it's inception. The items in your inventory often aren't used for anything, can't be examined, or have even already been used for something. So having used items still sitting there just seems kinda pointless. It's hardly even a memento.

I still absolutely adore the visual and audio of this game. It's damn near perfect, and I want to see more of it. PLEASE let there be more of this. I just wish the rest of the game was able to match the pace of the prologue/intro.
