Buy the game here if you enjoy it. But if you find crashes to be too bad, seek an alternative method of playing.

I've got a heck of a lot more playtime on the game outside of Steam, and while I admire the work done on this game to implement the unique limb and blood system, it still gives me the same feeling as "Blood & Gold: Caribbean". Just another game that feels like a glorified mod of another game; doing better than said other game, but also just reminding me that I could get the same experience by modding said other game -- that I already own -- properly

Alright first things first: I did originally play the 1997 version back when it came out, specifically when I was a wee lad, with my grandparents. I have also replayed the original a few time over the last decade, as I enjoy it.

With that being said, I really wish that this was my first time playing Riven, as I wouldn't have blown through it so quickly. Even with the changes to 2 of the major puzzles, I managed to 100% the game in under 9 hours. I'm sure that if I hadn't played before, I would've been at least 20 hours in, not finished, and writing a positive review still.

Updated visuals are gorgeous of course. I manged to run them on highest setting (sans supersampling, and with a 60FPS cap) on an i5-6500, and 1060, with my FPS dipping to the mid-high 40s when transitioning from indoor areas to outdoor ones, and when loading a new island.

Yes I had a CTD issue when I was first using a specific vehicle in a specific area that had specific access points, and with that save, I will crash any time I open it up. No idea why, but I was able to play just fine by loading an earlier one (like 10 minutes earlier), and just beelining the solution, as opposed to exploring a bit. I also thought that I was stuck after the first time I took a tram, but it turns out I was not patient enough to allow the game to finish its hidden loading.

Also apparently text is difficult to read if not on highest graphical settings, so just a heads up there.

If you already know you love the original, then you probably already bought the game, or are going to. For those who are new to the series, or just Riven in general; yeah its worth it in my -- albeit biased -- opinion. No you don't have to play Myst first, however you will have some insight to the technology of the world that you might miss while playing through.

Honestly I was really excited for this, but man, these controls are awful. Someone please make a mod to fix the M&K controls. Unfortunately I don't currently have a controller that doesn't have stick drift issues, so I'd much rather play with the poor M&K controls. Most egregious is that the mouse cursor does not stay locked to the game, even in fullscreen mode; so don't even bother playing with a multi-monitor setup.

Also why isn't there a "quit to menu" option. If I want to reload a save, I need to exit the game entirely, start the game launcher (with unskippable intro videos for the companies), then launch the game I want to play (again with unskippable intro videos for the companies), then I can load the game.

The above paragraph wouldn't be such an issue if the game wasn't crashing so often.

If you can get over that, then so far the game has been pretty much as expected for a port of the console versions. Though some games have been turned into movies instead. Do some research on the game before buying it

Edit May 4th: Probably the final edit I'm making. I don't want to create a PSN account just to play the game... or attempt to play it, as I'm still having issues if I try to play with certain friends, but others are fine. I'm uninstalling. Sad that this game had so much potential, but turned to ♥♥♥♥. If only Steam would allow a refund due to these extenuating circumstances.

Edit Apr 6th, 2024: Same situation, but seems to be getting worse. I haven't been able to really play in almost 3 weeks due to crashing and joining issues.

Edit Mar 22nd, 2024: Its been nearly a week where reinforcing doesn't always work, and makes it near impossible to play alongside the other issues from the Mar 16th update.

Edit Mar 16th, 2024: For the past week, or close to it, there have been issues with friends connecting, staying in game without being randomly kicked, and just connection lag issues for all (host included) as if its a dedicated server for a mission instance. Players are also sometimes teleporting, strategems say they are on cooldown but not, and keybinds are not being saved.

Edit Feb 28th, 2024: My friends and I have not had any serverside connection, or capacity issues for a week. I think they got that under control. I am recommending this game, unless you absolutely cannot abide by Ring 0 anti cheat software.

I played the first Helldivers game a decent amount, I wish I had gotten friends more interested in it in the past, but scheduling, life, etc. Anywho I love the game, and I'm really excited for Helldivers 2. That being said...

On first launching the game, for the game set up it says "Linking your Steam account to a Playstation(TM) Network account is required for playing the game.", but its not thankfully. So right off the bat they are lying to me, just to get me to make a PSN account.

nProtect is an anti-cheat software that I'm not very comfortable with due to Ring 0 access.

Some issues in game:

- enemies clip through secondary objectives that are on the map (bunkers, artillery emplacement, crashed shuttles, etc.) meaning that cover you think it there, really doesn't exist for the enemies, but they sure as heck do when you are trying to shoot them.

- Lower render distances can have enemies shooting at you from out of view; which can be frustrating.

With the bad out of the way, I can say that the game is fun and if you like PvE horde shooters with that Starship Troopers vibe, you will likely enjoy this.

Graphics: Decent.

Sound Design: Good.

Music: Orchestral to fit the mood.

Controls: Some issues; ESDF users are in trouble as R cannot be bound to anything other that "Acquisitions" when on the ship

Gameplay: Primary objectives to complete while surviving. Secondary objectives to be discovered which give in mission rewards (marked locations, extra stratagems, etc.). POIs to find support weapons, in game currencies, and snippets of world building lore. Different tools for different playstyles.

Edit to reflect an update: SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER

I'm no connisseur of vanilla hunting SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER games so keep that in SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER mind when you read the review:

I enjoyed the bit of time I've spent with SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER the game. I can tell that its more of a relaxing pace with friends, that tries to SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER emulate the reality of hunting (as I've learned from stories that SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER much of my family has told for when they go hunting). Its not the kind of game meant to run and gun for animal kills, its meant to be SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER played as a serious hunter; SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER more like a simulation game, than an arcade game.

Its got some decent SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER mechanics with scent, and sound, SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER whereby the animals will be disturbed by such SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER and run from you. The tracking mechanics seem like SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER they could use some looking SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER into... I'm not sure what SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER animal on this planet SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER poops like 8 times in 20 SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER minutes, that you would be SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER hunting. The trophy system SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER is pretty neat, rewarding you for proper shot placement and calibre used, for SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER a more humane take down.

Overall I can SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER recommend this game as an entry level SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER hunting game, and I'd SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER say that you should SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER play with friends to SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER enhance the experience. Also don't SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER go after the moose until SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER you can take down a bear without SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER issues; take it from this SAVE 55% ON THE ANGLER Canadian that you don't ♥♥♥♥ with moose! Early Access Review
Game is good, but server issues are bad. I can be on discord perfectly fine, and have connection issues to the server (US region).

Just got kicked from the server, but friends said it wasn't a global ban, so I'm wondering if its because I typed out the racist word that someone else had said, when I reported them

Crusade ending bugs that haven't been fixed for months? Check.
Glitchy mob rigs? Check.
Decently fun? Check.

I want to give this game a positive review, but it seemed more like the devs would rather milk the fans with another DLC, than fix bugs which can literally ruin hours of time spent on a feature that you must use to get the good gear in decent timing. I held off on putting a review up for nearly 7 months now, in the hopes that I would be able to put a positive one with the bugs fixed, but here we are...

"But sir, its not designed to work like that."
"So?"

I love this game; so many hours spent on the PS2 version. I've bought it here in the hopes of a translation one day, but so far none. I'm finally writing a review as its the only power I have to try to get Koei to bring the English version to PC.

A fan made translation is in progress, and I'm at the point where I'm looking to do one myself just so that I don't feel like this game is a waste
