Game was good until they pulled a massive bait and switch and decided to retroactively enforce third party account linking to access a game that people already bought under the assumption that they wouldn't have to.

Best non-linear story game I've ever played.

By far one of the best RPG's I've ever played. Also was one of my first games I got on Steam. This game holds a special little place in gaming history due to the fact that it is a perfect example of the wise old saying: "Premiere graphics do not make a game." I would prefer something like this to Skyrim any day of the week simply because the mechanics are so intricate and the game has just so much replayability. I've been playing this game consistently for as long as I can remember leaving me to give this game a solid thumbs up.

Early Access Review
Planet Explorers is a very unique game. While it does come with several short-comings which I will discuss later, the game itself is very well rounded and based on a sound survival tactical idealism that is reminiscient of minecraft, but has dutifully ascended to what Minecraft could never quite achieve; and it's still not complete!

Before I dive into what I truly love about Planet Explorers, it would only be fair if I start with a few of it's shortcomings. The first thing is the fact that early game survivability is ridiculously odd, with a botchy combat system and not quite complete progression, this game lacks any motivation to keep on playing past the bad in hopes of reaching something good. Not to mention how ridiculously easy it is to aquire the best gear in the game through the incomplete store function. Sure, while the ability to design your own vehicles and weapons is cool, it's not really something to be all that impressed about, it's very linear about voxel placement and the damage to size ratio is far off to say the least.

But putting all of that on the back burner, I would like to now dive in to what I thought was amazing about the game, and the reasons that I kept playing through the faults. The in-game world is beautifully designed, and provides motivation to explore and just admire the scenery. The colony function allows you to find people out in the wildnerness who you can ask to join you and before you know it, you can get a whole group of people following you around. The combat system is great, but part of the problem with it is just how poorly animated it is, but that's very easy to put aside. The animals and aliens in this game are not only well designed, but also are varied in appearance and combat strategy, it will make it difficult to say raid an alien colony without preparation, and it makes your troubles worth it in the end. With a good story mode and great functionality for a game that's still unfinished, it's hard to point out that many faults in it. And even then, to find anything really wrong with the game I had to nitpick.

If I was going to rate this game, I'd have to give it at least a 7/10.
