To be honest, it's tough to put my finger on it, but this game is great. If you're on the fence about buying it, just go for it. You'll love it. If not, you can always refund it. Keep in mind, there are definitely a few issues though. For example, forced slow progression by disallowing key items to be teleported using the portal mechanic.

Tiresome nerf/buff cycle. Boring gameplay loop. The time sink just grows and grows. Greedy developers. Game used to be really good, but not anymore. I don't recommend wasting your time.

It's good

The game has gone downhill since Alpha 17. I don't really expect it to make a comeback anytime soon. With that being said, just play Alpha 15/16 instead :)

Good game

After more than 1000 hours playing the game, I would say that it's worth the price. If you like roleplaying games, it's a real treat. There is a fairly active modding community that people can get into or experience themselves. The devs still consistently update the game each season with new content. Go ahead and buy the game. :)
