Absolute classic. Great OST, characters and mind games.
My only advice, you should skip every other route and go straight for Haru's, since that way you won't get disappointed with the "twist" and you'll get to see one of the best endings in any VNs.
*Also don't forget to buy Voice patch, because the seiyuus in here are all top-tier.

Sadly you can't buy bonus set separately, but oh man... that Judith Golden Blood costume was worth it.

This game is something special, a true passion project from a regular japanese working man who spent 15 years making it and then 1.5 year polishing it with the help of talented artists. Mechanically this game is a masterpiece, character progression and rpg elements are so varied and rich that everything just works perfectly. Combat feels beefy and satisfying, defeating overpowered superbosses while being an underleveled noob with just Berserk passive skill on is peak Astlibra. I also never tired of grinding because the gameplay is just that good and gives you so much satisfaction as well as rewards.

Story is great and every single plot point comes out into play at the end, so while you can get confused about the whole time travel, gods and etc. it will all make perfect sense at the end of the postscrip. Astlibra also has a likeable cast of characters with their own motivations and story, everyone has a role to play and you'll come to like them just like the protagonist did. Astlibra is the story of loss and hope, where in the end after so much hours of never giving up and trying to save your loved ones, you (protagonist) will finally get your happy ending. Brilliant game, thank you Keizo for not giving up and finishing this game 10/10.

Curse sucks and its implementation is even worse. Rean's crying for 4 games about his self-worth isn't amusing in the slightest either. The dialogue writing has to be one of the worst I've read in any piece of media. It goes like this:
Rean: "Class VII we're about to do some retarded ♥♥♥♥, but be prepared as the instructor and graduate of Thors military academy I won't let you do BAD stuff"
Class VII: "We hear you Rean, but let us reaffirm what you just said in turns like a clown fiesta we are before we do the same retarded ♥♥♥♥"
Rinse and repeat 20+ times. I feel like I was losing my mind when I played this Cold ♥♥♥♥ garbage.
I unironically spend 100hours hate playing CS4, no wonder so many people left after this 1/10

After the cluster f*ck garbage that was CS4, Kuro/Daybreak reignited my love for the series. Seriously, falcom just needed a great cast of characters going on the adventure and Daybreak delivered it to the brim. Van is probably my favourite kiseki protagonist now, his banters with other spriggans is so good and full of soul I was smiling the whole time and his personality is a breath of fresh compared to Riin, Van is literally trail's Gintoki. The story is pretty straightforward and self-contained, there're a lot of unanswered questions, but the game doesn't end on a cliffhanger. What surprised me the most is that Daybreak actually has stakes and some really f*cked up scenes that will make you feel bad.

As for the combat it's pretty engaging albeit lacking in action-mode, I wish they added more combos or arts usage in action, but it's pretty addicting once you understand how to use new shard system and field mode in tandem with action. Also going from action mode to the turn-based is really smooth and seamless. I heard that Daybreak 2 improves both action and turn-based combat a lot, so there's so much potential to it.

OST is pretty good and a lot better compared to CS3 and 4, Unmitigated Evil is peak chuuni kino.

Overall solid 9/10, great start of a new arc and probably the best first game in trails series.
