I would like to preface that Darkest Dungeon is not a game for everyone. The punishment of misplaying can be a bit too much for some people, and learning multiple complex game mechanics is not something many people are willing to do. However, although it took me a while to get into this game, I absolutely adore it. I do not consider myself an RPG fan, but this game is still incredibly enjoyable for me. The Lovecraftian theme of the game is amazingly immersive and grim, and will not get boring after hundreds of hours. The main mechanics are woven together so beautifully, and everything feels almost perfectly balanced. I think the best way to demonstrate is that there is over a dozen character classes, all playing completely different. and every single one is on par power-wise. The biggest problem beginning players seem to have with darkest dungeon is the RNG, but this is usually able to be solved with proper knowledge and planning. Sometimes however, you may not be able to afford that weapon upgrade, or the trinket you want from the trinket shop, and these little differences make up the challenge of the game. Almost every situation (spare the final area) can be made much easier with the proper forethought. There is always the risk of things going south however, and this makes the game feel constantly tense and exciting. This game is punishing. Very punishing. Losing hours of grinding because your strongest character died punishing. Oh yeah, this game has permadeath. if the character you sunk thousands of gold into dies you are not getting them back. Overall, Darkest Dungeon offers an experience like no other, and is one of my new favorite games of all time. I am incredibly excited for the sequel to release soon, and if you are interested in the game, it goes on sale for less than 5 bucks almost all of the time. Just stop reading the reviews and buy the damn game.

Hollow Knight is a carefully crafted masterpiece. This game is remarkable in every regard, from the rich, lore filled world of Hallownest, to the incredibly fluid and responsive controls. This game follows the standard Metroidvania system, while adding unique combat, areas, abilities, the incredibly in depth charm system. This game is absolutely worth checking out, however note that it is not too newcomer friendly, and can be frustrating at times, however, the satisfaction from this game is indescribable, and warrants this game getting an easy 10/10.
