Wayfinder's shift from MMO to co-op RPG is not a only a testament to the studio's tenacity and dedication towards making good games and supporting their players, but also speaks for the gross negligence of their ex-publisher that is ultimately the reason why this game was not able to become an MMO beyond its inception.

The game is in a solid state right now and a very fun action RPG similar to Darksiders, with lots of weapons, characters, cosmetics, and micro-systems for progression.

The game is also free of MTX entirely, with a new zone and playable character in the works for 1.0. By jumping into EA you are able to claim (1) otherwise unobtainable currency that can be used on a mount, house pets, or cosmetic armor sets for either Senja, Kyros, or Venomess.

Do you have twenty minutes to spare and like super heroes? Give this a shot, straight up. The villain is pretentious and charming, while your hero is more down-to-Earth. What few alternate dialogue segments there are does a good job painting a bigger picture of the two than you have immediately in front of you, and has me interested to experience NG's full game if only for the characters. The narrative itself has a neat little framing device that ties into this duo as well, so all in all, it's a pretty tasty piece of super hero media.

Consider this Issue #1.

Buggy as absolute hell, but it lays the groundwork for something potentially amazing. Definitely worth it to mess around with, but don't expect anything stable. You're lucky if multiplayer doesn't brick itself.

But the tools are already there for endless custom content to expand the game into a tangible version of SBURB, and that's wonderful.
