I'm not far in yet at all, but I'm immediately loving how this game feels. It's challenging, the combat is fun, and the music is great.

It's a janky mess, but I wouldn't have it any other way. This game is my childhood. I played this on Wii back in the day and this version is even better.

I really wanted to play the PC version of Chrono Trigger, but it suffers from an issue where walking diagonally makes the screen violently stutter. It's so bad that it's borderline unplayable. Square Enix, I know you said you won't update the game anymore, but *please* fix this. This is the only accessible version of the game.

I'm trying to play this on Steam Deck. No idea if the stuttering problem exists on Windows.

EDIT(08/28/2024): ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Square Enix actually updated a game. I'll at least recommend it now, but I'd still love to see them improve the textures. Ignore text below. It's my old review, but it's still important.

------------------------------------------------------------

Game crashed after 15 minutes on my 5th or 6th attempt on the Ursala fight close to the end. Fix compatibility and import the higher res PS3 textures instead of using this AI upscaled garbage on the lower quality PS4 textures.

Other than that, it's a...good game. I'm enjoying KH1 so far, but it's a janky mess and needs a remake.

Early Access Review
Hey, I think this is my first review! Palworld came out of absolutely nowhere and provided me with more fun than I've ever had with a mainline Pokémon, so I think I owe it one.

Let me get it out of the way at the start, rip the band-aid off. This is game is buggy, it's janky, and it's somewhat unoptimized, but but the rest of my experience is too good for me to not care too much. If you've played Pokémon: Legends Arceus, you won't be totally unfamiliar to some of this game's features, namely around catching Pals. The position you throw a Pal Sphere from relative to the Pal you're catching increases or decreases the catch rate, much like PLA. That's super engaging.

The base building and resource management are both really fun. You can have your Pals automate much of the resource management for you, which gives you more time to just screw around and have fun.

If you wanna buy this game for multiplayer, you might wanna wait. Multiplayer is the buggiest part of the game so far, and I think the latest update broke it. But once it starts getting better, buy this game for you and your friends, sit them down, and make them play it with you.

I've already put 17 hours into this game at the time of writing my review. If you are an old jaded Pokémon fan who feels burned by most of the last decade of games, like me, then this is the game for you. I just hope they'll reinvest their insane earnings into making Palworld a better and more polished game. Best of luck, Pocketpair! Thank you for this experience.
