I originally bought this game Day 1 on Xbox and bought it again on Steam for my Steam Deck, which initially didn't work without Windows but that's changed recently so now it works completely on SteamOS! Thank you Ivory Tower!

With that said, I've been on and off with this game since it's launch, yet I've always been coming back to this game a bit more than others like Forza Horizon when my racing game itch kicks in. In comparison, Motorfest's incredibly vibrant visuals, crazy vehicle customization, and much improved physics from it's predecessor helps it to stand out a bit more from the homework it was copying from the Horizon Festival. The playlists are very neat ways to get yourself into different settings whether it's a JDM legends showcase, mastering the art of drift, or simply cruising and sightseeing on the islands of O'ahu and Maui, there's likely a playlist to be of interest to someone. The post-launch content has been a lot more interesting to me when compared to Forza's. For example, while Forza's launched two expansions set in a Hot Wheels playground, and a Rally themed area, Motorfest casually dropped a new island that is connected to the original, doubling the size of the already existing map, for the high price of simply owning the game. Even with the new cars both games have added after launch, Forza locks them behind weekly events that must be completed in order to unlock them. Motorfest does the same, but only for special editions of pre-existing cars. The brand new cars are added into the shop, just like any other car. That, with new playlists, game modes, vehicle types, and more dropping over the last 2 years is insanity. As of writing, the Year 3 schedule was showcased not too long ago, and it's nothing but a love letter to the community, and likely one of the biggest updates to date. ANOTHER new island, better customization for rims and lowering your car, a new event type, a partnership with NASCAR, RC cars(??????), and a lot more in the coming year, and I'm incredibly excited for it.

The game isn't perfect, like any game that exists. It's multiplayer can be hit or miss, from the big online lobby PVP races (which seems to be getting somewhat addressed in Year 3) where the races can get stale pretty quick or ruined by some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shoving you off course, or even private Crew lobbies where your friends may disappear if you're cruising around and not come back for quite sometime, even after restarting the game multiple times. Do keep in mind, I don't usually dabble in the online PVP much at all, so this is what I've heard from others. Take it with a grain of salt. The livery editor (which seems to be lifted directly from it's predecessor), while powerful, is a bit hard to work with on controller. It's hard to be precise placing decals with the joystick where in something like FH5, it can be done with the D-pad.

Overall, this game is incredible in what it has to offer, and while the name isn't as big in the racing game scene, really does run Forza for it's money. Quite literally, since the cheapest both base versions of the games have ever been on Steam, Motorfest has gone for $15, while Forza's lowest price was DOUBLE that at $30. For what this game is worth, $15 is highway robbery and it's an absolute shame that Motorfest doesn't have nearly as many players as Forza. If it's on sale, give the game a shot.

Game literally will not work on Steam Deck, despite it saying it’s playable. The EA App continuously crashes upon reinstalling numerous times, and the closest I got to actually playing the game was having a loading screen show up before the EA App crashes soon after, giving you the option to either restart the app only for it to crash again, or exit the app, which boots you out of the game. Fantastic work, Electronic Arts. Your ♥♥♥♥ works so well that I can’t even play your game.

UPDATE: It’s been some time since I made this initial review, and I have tested the game to see if it’ll work on Deck now, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been able to launch and play the game much more than I used to.

Now as for how I feel about the game itself, it’s a blast if you enjoy arcade-y racers. The feel of pure speed when you’re ripping through Paradise City is immense, and having to go your own way (for the most part) while racing others can get hectic real quick. I haven’t even gotten into the “DLC” cars, but they’re wacky in their own way. If you enjoy arcade racers, and this game’s on sale, it’s a good time. Just be sure you’re willing to potentially deal with EA’s ♥♥♥♥ launcher.

If you're looking for a good FPS Game, this should be in one of your top 10s list. It has an unusual style to it, more of a cartoony look to it. Which is like the odd one out, since most games are realistic, like Counter Strike, CoD, and Battlefield.

but as of recent, the game has been filled to the brim with bots, and Valve has been profiting from this game for the past 5+ years while providing no proper updates to the game, and has done nothing to fix these issues. #FixTF2

UPDATE: Okay, I’m aware the bots have been taken down for about a week, I’m going to leave it negative for a bit until we know that this is going to be a long term fix rather than a quick band-aid over the problem that’ll get worked around a month later. I’m happy with what you’re doing Valve, just don’t ditch us when they come back (please)

UPDATE AGAIN: Okay, I think it’s been relatively long enough.
Game good, no bots, it free, go play :)

UPDATE AGAIN AGAIN: I've been enlightened a bit more on how ♥♥♥♥ this game has been getting treated by Valve, and it absolutely sucks. I love this game. I truly do, but Valve can't keep sitting on stacks of cash we give them through this game, and get basically nothing in return. On top of that, the bots seem to be slowly creeping their way back into casual, which is just... fantastic. Going back to a negative review for now, and I just hope that people get loud enough for Valve to actually provide more to this game than just basic fixes.
