6.5/10

It looks good, plays good, but it feels like "my child's first Dragon Age", and the writing reflects that, it's really poor, bordering on cringe at times, but honestly? It just feels like it's made for children who need an extra kick and a helping hand to process the game world.

It's fun, but it reminds me a lot more of Dragon Age II at it's worst, than Origins or Inquisition.
the RPG mechanics have been dumbed down, and streamlined and the control scheme is changed and not really for the better.

Grab it on sale and/or if you want a slightly patronizing Dragon Age-esque experience

Tons of potential, but the performance is horrid, there's bugs aplenty and it's filled with odd design choices.

While it can potentially be a fantastic game when it's properly patched, it might take some time. Avoid it for a while.

Tainted Grail, how can I describe you best?

It's take on Arthurian legend is refreshing and there is some interesting themes to explore, it's not finished but it feels like reading through the notes of an author of a fantasy epic. It needs editing and it needs polish, but there is potential for something truly special and I am so here for it.

If you're looking for a grand adventure that is all done, and finished, then this is not for you.
This isn't a AAA title, it isn't Skyrim, but it is genuinely good. It's a love letter to dark fantasy fans and I am thoroughly enamoured by it. It's fresh and it's different, it's flawed and not everything it tries to do hits as it should, but it's filled me with the childish glee that I had when I played Morrowind and Oblivion for the first time.

If you're looking for something different, and you're willing to cut the game some slack and just drink in the mystery of the setting, then this is definitively worth your time. What this game lacks in polish and optimisation, it makes up for it by being interesting and an escape from the cynicism and "mass produced" feel of a triple A title.

There's some significant issues that you should keep in mind before you purchase.
The music is good, sets the atmosphere really well, but it can get repetitive. It's also got some jarring transitions.
The combat is.. strange, it's kind of Skyrim-esque, but it's lacking a bit of the oomph and there isn't enough weight behind the strikes. There some spectacular visuals and incredible world building going on, but right now it's a bit empty.

There's just one chapter available at the moment, but it's got some treats, both visual and lore wise to make you want for more. There is enough content for me to believe that what I've paid is worth it, even if it's just this little 3-4 hour preview. (Having gone through on easy, just cruising to explore this new setting and without having done all of the side quests.)
For the price of a night out for dinner and a movie, it's given me hope for the genre, a smile on my face and that childlike wonder that I haven't had since I was a child.

TLDR:
It's rough, it's not finished, don't go in expecting it to be a finished product. There's a bunch of bugs, it plays like a long ass demo, the story is a bit rough and at times hard to follow. I loved every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ second of it.

Had to refund this game, which is a shame, I pre-ordered, I love Victoria 2, the economy, the shifting populations, the pie charts, the political reforming, even the barebones military system was nice, I was hoping for more of the same and improvements on them, but instead of what I thought would be a proper sequel, we got whatever this is.

The most anticipated Paradox game and they somehow managed to ruin it, I really wanted to like it, but it's just not fun.
I enjoy the whole roleplaying as a nation, building it through the industrialisation, going from a backwater to a titan.

What we got was a spreadsheet that looks very good, but isn't fun to play, all the gameplay feels like busy work, micromanagement for micromanagements sake, disregarding the purpose of the game, having fun.

TLDR:
I'm a Vicky 2 fanboy and I didn't like the new one, buhu :(

You should play through this gem atleast once in your life.
It's dated, the characters look.. questionable, but Sean Bean voices a main character.
This is also the first game to open my eyes to a whole new genre of games. The open world rpg.

Give it a chance, it's infinitely modable and it's honestly still good.

I love this game, I love the mods for this game, I love the expansions for this game.
It's a game I've bought three copies of. It was a defining part of my teens.
It has probably not aged very well, but trust me, give it a go.
