There is a lot to love in this game but enough to hate

I can NOT recommend this game simply because you put so much time into collecting gear just to lose everything you like the best because of bullshittery like the following...

- You enter a room and close a door behind you.
- You kill the only zombie inside the room-
- You then go to loot a crate and a zombie spawns inside the closed off room.
- You kill the zombie and go to patch your wound and drink water.
- While patching the wound from the original zombie spawn, 2 more spawn ontop of you at the exact same time.

You now get to bleed out and lose everything because you died to zombie attacks in an empty sealed room.

EDIT at 182 hours:
- Raft randomly flips upside down, killing all occupants.
- God Mode Zombie.
- Zombies walking through walls.
- Bridges not rendering and allow cars to just fall through them, destroying the vehicle.
- Picking up bike next to wall makes you glitch through the wall. (Stuck, suicide and lost all stuff)

EDIT (4 months later)
-- Bridge glitch is patched
-- Zombies walking through walls is patched.

2.4 Hours in (So I can't refund)

Now I'm quest locked, a bug reported multiple times (And I reported myself) and the developers will not fix.

If you have a specific (mandatory quest) to craft a potion to kill a griffon (Or some other giant monster bird, I don't remember) - and you don't have the things you game is immediately locked- you can't close the menu- you can't do anything.

So unless you spent time searching for ingrediants you didn't know you needed- screw you! Your game is completely broke! Oh- I'm sorry... did you spent another 2 hours replaying thing you just did and you missed 1 thing because there is no way to check what they want you to get? Yup! Screw you!

There is not a key on Keyboard- or Xbox controller that let's you back-out and recover the game. You're screwed.

I made a report on this and provided all the information- quest name etc- what's happening- etc etc- and was basically told to ♥♥♥♥ off by support and they plan to do nothing about this bug because it's "known".

HORRIBLE game- HORRIBLE company-

Well... almost 200 hours later... Here we go... Some of these are features, some are bugs, some are things I just don't like.

There is only 5 different mission types.

- Exploration
- Kill this monster.
- Create a building with these inside
- Go to these 3 locations and interact with this.
- Collect these materials and put them in the dropship.

-- Bears can scale completely vertical walls.
-- Animals can see you behind walls and inside of structures.
-- Bears can eat stone to get to you.
-- Bears can attack you from 20 meters away while they're facing the wrong direction.
-- It's not even alien... It's 99% Earth.
-- The Lore makes no sense.
-- The game is not optimized at all.
-- Bumping into things has the chance to launch you into the stratosphere.
-- Alternatively the item you bumped into gets launched into the stratosphere...
That mission objective you needed? Good luck finding it.
-- Building blocks do not snap right sometimes.
-- Half tiles can not snap to other halves (/quater tiles)
-- When building it's hard to see which direction it's facing, and it sometimes rotates after to break it down...
Causes a lot of direction-based building issues.
-- They give you an aimbot so you feel good about yourself...
Killcam being enabled gives you an aimbot (even more pronounced when you crouch)
-- Having AA and Textures on anything other than 'EPIC' provides unplayable grainy imagery.
-- DLSS causes the same issue above.
-- Sometimes friends can't join/find the world when they are on steam friends, etc...
-- The Intro when you launch the game is 2 minutes long and is unskippable.
-- After you die and reclaim your gear it blocks your vision.
-- Night is pitch black, meaning if you can't sleep through it you're forced to sit around for 30 minutes doing nothing.
-- Animals have zero issues seeing in the dark.
-- You can drop into an Out of Bounds area.
-- I've had a boss be in god mode, and one just despawn and never return. (both cases we wasted 8 hours+ on the mission for no reward)
-- There is no way to respec talent points and there is no confirmation.. Misclick and ruin your build? Too bad!
Waste another 60 hours to get another char to level 40+.
-- Your dropship pod (a clearly enclosed space) is not counted as shelter.
-- This goes with Unoptimized... Memory Leaks are a big and known issue with the game.
-- Snow is a "ghost" layer ontop of the physical plane- it has no clippings so items etc fall into the snow and can be lost.
-- Items can just fall straight through the world when dropped- this can happen to anything but very common when chopping trees. ((The world can swallow trees whole aswell))
-- Having a water canister auto-drink in the arctic biome freezes you to death.
-- Wolves / Bears can attack you from under platforms if you built on a hill.
-- Ladders do not snap to trapdoors... the only place they really belong?
-- Even at level 99 you fall 27 blueprint points of everything (not counting future items)
-- If you skin an animal with multiple arrows in it, you only get one back.
-- Friends joining your prospect have the chance to drop in ontop of your building (if you built near the drop-zone)
-- Freezing / Heated overlays can get stuck on the screen.
-- You're in a sealed environment suit but you contract pneumonia...?
-- Cave Worms poison you through your environment suit without damage to it?
-- The Atmosphere is Oxygen-Rich (lore) but we need to mine for Oxygen?
-- You can get wounded by Wolves / Bears, etc (which obviously breaches the safety of your environment suit.. but you're unaffected by the breach which enables you to breathe cyanide and the vaguely mentioned "other toxic gases"

... You can see there is a lot going on with this game, and I have a lot of issues.
And because of the quantity of issues I have- I can not recommend this game to people in it's current state- if it was still Early Access tagged then I would- but if this is their idea of a full release I don't enjoy where this game is headed.

However, if you enjoy survival crafts and don't mind the repetitiveness of some titles *cough* New World *cough* and the level of bugs it has on release and you understand the nature of session-based etc... You will enjoy Icarus.
