Ah yes, well here's a tip. Once you get the final engine, the "Inertial Engine" or something, it's ridiculous amazing. Your massive ships turn on a dime, reach top speed almost instantly, trust me, go for those. You just need high reactors to balance it out.

Also, the Mammoth is the greatest Vanilla ship there is, hands down.

Okay, I've tried it out and I loved it. The main storyline was pretty good, and I ran my first playthrough on normal difficulty with most of the schematics being hard to find to provide at least a small challenge. What I really loved about the combat though was the multiple ways you could build your ship to combat enemies. Sure, you could make an almighty cruiser with enough firepower to rival the Death Star in Star Wars, but you'd be slow. Sometimes, being slow also meant being the prime target for all the hard hitting little things that flew around you faster then you could turn. Worse yet, being slow meant infestation became a major risk later in the game, and having your biggest ship turned against you is not something you want to have happen midfight.

As a sidenote, the side missions were incredibly fun and random as well. Adding some zaniness to the overall storyline.

Been tempted to try it out, but I have a lot of other games on my to get list already.

lol, understandable. The game is rather iffy for a lot of people.
I myself greatly enjoyed it, simply because smacking a zombie 100 feet across an area and watching them splatter is ever so much more entertaining than simply shooting their head off.

The storyline wasn't terribly great in my opinion, but it served it's purpose well-enough.

...Though on the subject of zombies and shooting. You should try out Space Pirates And Zombies. Or SPAZ for short. A very fun little game. It's kinda like Beat Hazard. With an actual storyline and RPG elements.

I never really liked Dead Island, I mean what game keeps a zombie from dying with a headshot? That like breaks with the norm of every game I've ever played with a zombie in it. I will admit the storyline was good for the Xbox Version, but gameplay was devastatingly melee based, and guns were practically useless when I used them. Plus since Zombies took like 4 or more headshots depending on the gun you used, and ran fast enough to catch Sonic the Hedgehog, shooting from a distance granted maybe like 2 potshots before your shots brought 5 or 6 headshot resistant zombies to you.
