I'm a bit conflicted with this game. I loved the first Lego Indiana Jones and a lot of my comparisons will be based on that game. Overall, I would recommend the first game over this one, or just wait until this one goes on sale.

My main issue is the length and content of the missions. There are some missions in Crystal Skull that take less than a minute. They also feel more detached from the movies. If you haven't watched the movies, it might not be an issue, but there are a lot of choices the creators made that move it too far outside the movies in my opinion. For example, my favourite movie is Last Crusade and it was my favourite chapter of the first movie. The finale, which is finding the cup, is super short in this game and the finale is somewhat lackluster. The first movie's first scene is one of the most iconic in the entire series, the boulder escape, which is entirely glossed over in this game. Not even a mission. Longer missions that use more of the maps and game mechanics would help improve it so much.

The game attempts to create "boss fights" which start relatively enjoyable, moving to tedious and repetitive. It of course follows that veer away from the movies. There are also "super bonus levels" which are the same "make 1m studs" from previous games - but this time, instead of interacting with the map and things like digging and building, you can finish like 80% of it by just walking around and picking up studs on the ground. The rest are destroying items. It makes no attempt to incorporate the other game mechanics. These bonus levels are also closer to the level builder levels and again, don't attempt to integrate with the movies and stories. They could have used the level builder to skip out the parts of the story that they skipped, but didn't.

Part of the story is also now these car chases, which I actually enjoyed, but they really highlight the clunky controls with the vehicles. I used a controller and had way too may problems driving around. The hub maps are also slightly interesting and I liked being able to drive around the various vehicles, but it would have been nice to integrate them better. It's not also super annoying when you're in the hub and you're being attacked by a bunch of enemies just because you haven't bought them yet.

I have a few more gripes, but those are the main ones. If you're looking for a lego game, buy this on sale. If you're a fan of the Indiana Jones movies, buy the first one.

Game of the year (probably). It's ok for an idle clicker game but the points scaling could be improved and could have achievements.

Just one more ante....

Highly addicting game and it runs absolutely amazing on the Steam Deck. Honestly, my game of the year.

A really good game for any fan of the Westwood Command & Conquer/Dune games. The difficulty is spot on, with enough difficulty if you want it to be. Good multiplayer and skirmish modes too. All around really fun for anyone interested in casual RTS's or strategy games.

A pretty fun, simple city builder. The simplistic nature allows you to focus more on the creative nature and on building buildings as opposed to other city builders. It gets repetitive after a few missions but some of the challenge missions are pretty fun and the sandbox mode is good as well.

Great quick city-building/micromanagement game, with a decent amount of replay-ability. The pathfinding AI is quite lacking and the game slows to a crawl after you get around 50 citizens (to be fair, it seems that you can finish the game reasonably quickly with only 10-12 citizens). There are a few features the game lacks, but for a small, light game, it is quite enjoyable.

The last games to have the legends Kimi and Jeff the engineer. Best game in the entire series. Also, only game to have Mazespin, so it's gotta be the best.

The game is somewhat fun if not gimmicky and repetitive. My biggest issue is that it seems to crash relatively often even though its not a very resource intensive game and my PC should be well equipped to run the game. If you want to get this game, I recommend waiting for a discount.

Very fun game with lots of things to build. Feels like any of the old classic city builders from the late 90s. The game mechanics can be frustrating at times, especially when trying to figure out where bottlenecks are in the supply chain, but the game is quite rewarding.

This will probably be my absolute game of the year...and its only January. The game is both hilarious in its news segments, highly creative, and a challenge to manage and watch all the different controls you need. It also serves as an amazing critical piece on the power that media has on everyday society. All around, its quite addicting and very fun - I once stayed up until 3am playing this game. An absolute must-play.
