Extremely well paced metroidvania with satisfying movement and combat. While it's not as feature-rich as many modern metroidvanias like Hollow Knight or Blasphemous, the simplicity lends to a very consistently good experience that you can get through in a few days, rather than weeks.

No corpse runs, no currency loss, no spell meter management, no skill system or RPG stats, just basic swordfighting and a recharging bow with HP, damage, and ammo upgrades. Difficulty on Normal is engaging while not ever feeling unfair, and difficulty can be changed in either direction at any time. Platforming challenges are quick and flow well.

If you're tired of how sluggish and bloated a lot of modern games in this genre can feel, Islets is an amazing relief with a beautiful art style.

Solid pseudo-roguelike FPS. Extremely fun gameplay loop and amazing visuals and audio design, held back from being one of the greats by a lack of content.

While there is permadeath, the actual structure of the game is a linear campaign that you're always progressing (unless you literally die in the first mission of a new run). Land on ships, collect loot as fast as you can while hiding from strong enemies and trying to kill weak ones as efficiently as possible. Use that loot to unlock permanent upgrades and progress the campaign.

Gunplay is basic but functional, stealth much the same. Most of the focus is on speed and efficiency, you really want to learn how the ship layouts work. Pick a loadout combination that lets you do specific things well and avoid the things you can't deal with as much.

My only real complaint with this game is that there's not enough stuff in it. You'll pretty quickly figure out how each ship type generates and realize that the actual randomization is pretty lacking. There's not enough enemy types to keep the game interesting long-term, with higher difficulty ships generally just being palate swapped buffed versions of normal enemies + stronger hazards and a stricter timer. If the core gameplay doesn't click for you in the first couple of hours, it probably isn't going to because while you unlock new tools, the actual environments and strategy don't change that much. It really makes me wish this had mod support because mods could easily address this issue, but it's not the case.

Oh, and as for the Bang Tydy DLC: Nah. If you can get it on sale for like 50% off go for it, but it barely adds anything. A single, rare ship type with a pretty mediocre loot item, a single "chaser" type enemy, and one new weapon.

I think everything except the balancing in this DLC is almost a direct upgrade over the base game. It's beautiful both visually and audibly, the world design is MUCH better, the dungeons are vastly more interesting and well designed. I like these weird niche talismans, rather this stuff than 10000 Generic Stat Boosts.

And then some random goon kills me so fast I can't even react. Or a boss has a literal 10+ hit combo which instantly kills you if you get caught in it at any point. Or fromsoft hits me with the 475th Enemy You Cannot See And Instantly Aggros Around The Corner. Or I find another new weapon or item that is a direct upgrade to everything from the base game so half my weapons/items no longer serve any purpose.

The balance and enemy/boss/weapon design of these games feels like it's actively falling apart. I'm not sure why they're even bothering with making them RPGs still if this is the kind of stuff they want to make, just commit to making a Character Action game instead. Your build choices barely even matter because like 80% of your power comes from the Scadutree upgrades. I have softcap vigor and it seems like it would be no different if I had 20 vigor.

Overall, cannot recommend this DLC as it stands. It's the best thing in the series aesthetically and in terms of vibes, but it just is not fun to play.

Stop making these games absurdly overwhelmingly hard just for the sake of difficulty with no real reason behind it.

While I don't entirely agree with some elements of the whole Save TF2 movement, I can't really recommend this game in its current state and now's as good a time as any to put my voice in.

Calling the game enjoyable at this point is a stretch. The official matchmaking is completely unplayable due to an endless flow of bots, leaving your only option as community servers. This isn't inherently a dealbreaker as prior to matchmaking it's how the game worked anyway, but matchmaking has caused the amount of available servers to dwindle drastically.

If you don't live in the US or you have some kind of time setup where you can only play during off hours, you very well may not be able to find matches. Not to mention that very few community servers run a fully unmodified game. It's also become increasingly hard to play some of the sillier side modes the game has (both official and unofficial), with some like PASS TIME essentially being completely nonexistent at this point.

If you're a new player, these community servers are also often completely unapproachable, as they're primarily populated by veterans with hundreds or even thousands of hours in the game, rendering it very very difficult to actually learn how to play. Matchmaking was never ideal for this either, but the servers that *were* good for it in the past don't exist any more due to matchmaking.

As such, I just can't recommend this game currently. While I don't really foresee or expect Valve to "fix the bots" due to the costs involved, I hope this movement is enough of a push to get people to start actually hosting servers again. I would even accept Valve just disabling the matchmaking system at this point and putting community servers back at the forefront.

Early Access Review
Game gives similar feelings and vibes to Subnautica on a first playthrough, but with a much more intricate and satisfying gameplay loop and a really good aesthetic.

Can't wait to see where this goes, though I would personally recommend waiting for at least the first major content update to come out before picking the game up at this point.

If I had a nickel for every excellent game revolving around a 3-day time limit, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up moon, and something named "Termina" I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

Good game overall. Falls apart somewhat in endgame and is too long in my opinion, but still a very good entry in the series.

This game is great. It's a lighthearted mix of furry and kink elements and a legitimately really solid beat-em-up platformer. Only real complaints I have are that checkpoints can be annoyingly far apart at times, and the overfilling mechanic can feel overly punishing early on (I wish it made your health drain fast based on how overfilled you are, rather than being an instant death).

Overall, a great experience if you're into these kinks, and if you find yourself interested despite not having them, why not give it a try anyway?
