finally got the game to run the installer, no idea how it was fixed but it worked on my laptop first. my thoughts bellow...

the drive that had my software installed for windows, graphics drivers, personal files and so on was very full. i think that msfs looked at that drive first and made its assumption for install before i specified the install location desired. it opened up as a "stream" function since it was on my laptop already. this then allowed me to open the game installer and select the drive i wanted, my tb drive with about 300gb available.

maybe a patch needed but im glad its open and is as much as i wanted it to be :)

The most disappointing install experience of my life so far, for context i am a student pilot and have loved the MSFS franchise since i can remember the day in 2010 when i first fired the game up, bright eyed and bushy tailed it enthralled me from the first time i ever used my yoke and pedals to the final time i decided it was time to leave MSFS X and come to the new edition.

My system specs that matter for my review are as follows...
- core i7 7700
- gtx 1080 gaming x
- H80i V2 aio
- 850 evo 250gb (primary) and hyperx 1tb (game storage)

i have had my pc for the longest time, its still running happy all day and hasnt given me a days worth of issues that a simple bit of trouble shooting and or cleaning generally wont fix.

THE GAME I JUST SPEND ALMOST 2000 SOUTH AFRICAN RAND WONT EVEN ALLOW ME TO DOWNLOAD!

ive managed to get the installer on with no issues, however it just grey screens and crashes as soon as it boots into the installer, my primary drive is basically full but the game is directed to my dedicated games drive where there is aprox 300gb of space for this lovely game to put itself onto.

The most irritating part is that itll download onto my laptop, boot and run the installer with no issues :) however the dowload requires you to manually keep on checking and pressing download so i just wasted another day figuring it out. my laptop is the HP victus so it is a gaming laptop but its so irritating that i havent even been able to launch the game after running it for 4 hours. it is currently installing all the DLCs which will take another hour or two.

if anyone knows why it wont install and run on my desktop please let me know, im so over the trouble shooting, ive cleaned my pc as best as i could and it still wont work. im putting it down to the fact that my boot drive (850 evo) is basically full for the part that ive partitioned off. there is a 10% partition there to make sure the drive is at optimal speed and health.


Please microsoft, or matter of fact any one, help me play the game i love so much.

TL:DR spent the better part of a week working on the game to run on my desktop and it will only load onto my laptop, 4 hours later and i cant refund the game anyway so im just looking for advise. specs and thought above if you know anything about MSFS crashing before it loads the installer page.
