Better deal than the title alludes - it does come with some oxygen.

I think this is in general one of the most complete and approachable group management survival builder games.

The base game without mods is definitively playable, there's mods if you want them and they're (slowly) heading towards a situation where they're no longer needed. Update (03.04.2024): they're basically there now. I don't think you need a single mod at this point.

Is it flawless? Certainly not, there's some resource management issues with rockets and the DLC that could've been better, but all in all, this game has ridiculous depth, allows for some absolutely staggering amounts of creative solutions to problems and presents you with rather unique issues compared to other games - you must manage temperature, gases, liquids and make your own devices to make use of in-world resources like different volcanoes/geysers and unique cooling devices (that run on hydrogen).

This is also one of few games I've ever seen where you need to make different electricity grids with substations to manage power.

Everything else is great too: music, sounds, and style are all top notch.

And then once you're kind of bored of the base game, you can get the DLC for additional mechanics.

Well worth the money, sale or not.

This isn't a rogue-lite (meta-progression, death resets you to a given point), much less a rogue-like (no power meta-progression) as claimed on the store page.

My character died, I got booted to town, I went back in and enemies remained dead and my level progression stayed.

Also hit a bug like.. almost at once where even if I destroyed items, I couldn't pick up new ones.

I get this is early access, but this is all very strange.

Edit

What is up with the reviews for this game? There was a burst of them at first, me having the only negative and since then there's basically no reviews.

Good on the dev for clarifying what the in-app purchases are. There is one more that isn't mentioned, but is a name change (at 50% of the price of the game unlock). I'd argue you'd probably get more eyes on your game and more sales if you removed having to pay for a name change and simply offered the full game as a DLC to the game on Steam (so that you can remove the in-app purchases tag), but you do you.

I have two main complaints.

Combat is incredibly hands-off. You don't do anything as a player during combat. This also applies to every activity that takes some (very few) real seconds to complete. I'd say combat must become more involved (with an autoresolve option).

A lot of actions have this uncomfortable delay such as equipping items. It kind of feels like this is all happening over sluggish HTTP-calls to the central server (I mean, it could be websockets, but it is regardless sloooow).

If you've never played the original, stop reading, go buy this game and play it as it is a funny walking simulator experience.

Returning players: sorry to be the bearer of not so great news.

Huge spoilers below

The new content is some a few one-shot content sections that you'd do once, have barely has any branches, but is still decent quality. You get a bucket at a point that you can then pick up during any run and you can get bucket-variants of most (but not all) old endings - this does mix things up, but not enough in my opinion. Not counting bucket-variants, there's a total of 4.5ish new endings beyond the famous two open doors. The only reason I have this much playtime is because I kept trying to break the game with CheatEngine to see if I could find something else

Remember, the Thompson is NOT more powerful than the MP40.

They're the same.

They've listed the game for 207 NOK (~22.62 USD) here and I don't understand how.

The game feels messy in terms of mechanics, composition and even voice acting.
I tried playing as the sword lady and some of her voice clips sound completely different from the rest and she keeps saying "behind you" when teleporting, except it sounds like a warning more than a taunt? On top of that, the level I played was really not meant for her in solo.

Combat also just feels very unsatisfying.

Game got bought out by a weird NFT/crypto project called Earth 2.

Do not buy this as they can't put NFTs into it due to being on Steam, hence they can't do what they want with it so it is probably just going to be abandoned. Last update was nearly two years ago.

Developer is actually cutting content from the game and is now saying the explicitly do not wish to support the Steam deck saying that players will face a game ban if they try to bypass the incompatibility.

I get there's PvP in the game. If you're so worried about PvP and Linux, just let Linux users play PvE only with anti-cheat on and see if there's a cheating epidemic there first.

Now, I'm not someone who plays this game, but that's just beyond silly to not comment on.
