This review is not me saying "Oh this game is terrible and no one should play it."

This review is me saying "I can understand the appeal, but this game is not for me.

Let me make this more understandable.

In BTD Battles, there was card battles which was a fast paced RNG version of BTD battles. I enjoyed this a lot because it allowed for a more diverse amount of towers to be placed and personally, i enjoyed it more than regular BTD battles.

Going into this game i was kind of hoping it was similar to that in a way, yet it isn't. This game is a slow paced RNG card battler. There is nothing wrong with slow paced RNG, it is just from the 6 matches i played i only won once. 3 of the matches were against players who paid for Oben or Amelia and used decks that basically just made it impossible for me to win against. The only time i won a match was when someone miscalculated a move and gave me a victory with 15 hp over their max.

Yes i can understand this could be called a skill issue, and it probably is. But in my own first hand experience of this game, i do not enjoy it.

I'd make a really long review complaining about what Gearbox did, but everyone else has already complained about it enough to the point where what i will say is going to fall on deaf ears.

The base game may suck, but i fear for the modding community who must now redo all their work to function on arguably worse code.

I have been playing since the second player test. I fell in love with the janky mess this game is then, glad it's back.
Developers actually care about the community their game revolves around and are actively working to accommodate all types of players.

This game is literally free crack. Much like i have heard about Fortnite, it's dopamine filled.

I don't care if others think it isn't I find immense joy out of absolutely slaughtering entire lobbies by sheer anger alone.

This game is incredibly fun with friends.

Of course this isn't all i'm going to say but let me just put it out here.
The game itself is enjoyable, I have two saves currently running, a multiplayer save where i have enjoyed the gameplay loop and resource gathering with friends to the point that we have garnered a system on who does what (I got to shoot things HEHEEHEHEHE)

A lot about the game is really slow, but that is the main point of "These" types of survival games. The gameplay is supposed to be slow but rewarding... Although the rewarding part isn't quite there yet.

I've seen people complain about it in other reviews, and i'll complain about it too. The research table's current system is terrible. It's just so... unrewarding. I could spend a whole hour collecting resources just to spend the next few hours going through the research table seeing things that are just not worth researching but im FORCED to research it. Example, Farm plots. They serve absolutely no practical use in the early game yet it's so early in the research table.

UNLIKE other people's reviews. I do have an idea to bring to the table instead of just complaining about the game.

Instead of the current "You have to unlock this and this to progress the research table" Maybe introduce a system like Rust has for their research table. Have it be a whole viewable tree of things to research so we can research things in our own time. It would make it so we won't be forced to have useless things in our research table early game and allow us to focus on getting the ones we want more.

Apart from that suggestion, i really do like the aesthetics, i do get framerate drops but i know for a fact that it's just my own computer. The gunplay is pretty messy, but i don't mind it. The AI is a bit nutty with it's shooting but it isn't like how i see other people complaining, that being so accurate that there is no chance to not get shot by them.

All i have to say to them is, Get good.

The building mechanic where you can place things you want WHEREVER on the train is something i LOVE. I can focus on putting things neatly into corners and having things look nice and appealing every time i return to the train.

The one thing that i LOVE about this game though, which is in my opinion, the best feature...

YOU CAN SHOOT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BRAKE AND OTHER SWITCH TO FLIP THEM AND ITS THE MOST USEFUL THING EVER!

After playing it with a friend group for a while i have found a lot of useful information regarding the psychee of players.

I will attempt to explain each 'Mode' in simple, easy to digest statements.

1.: Brain Off mode :.
Brain off mode, commonly referred to when someone plays a game without properly thinking. A game that doesn't necessarily require skill to be good at. Games like dumbed down first person shooters or point and click killing games.
This is what i would refer playing as the 'Monster' as sometimes. (The usual way i play).
To play the monster doesn't require a lot of information. There are plenty of visuals and other notifications to help you know when and where things are happening. It's really easy to just, brain off, and do random things that might seem ridiculous or... *Sweaty*, depending on what it is. This leads to the next 'Mode'

2.: Ranked? mode :.
I was called a sweaty ranked nerd by my friends for placing two of the Huggy Wuggy 'Wuggle' sensor things above hatches or in the same place.
The common difference between 'Brain off' and 'Sweaty Ranked Nerd' is hard to distinguish. Usually it's indistinguishable unless made obvious.
Sweaty ranked nerd mode, would usually refer to players that try too hard to play the game. That being, knowing how to b-hop within the first hour of a game releasing, or having your cosmetics be pitch black so you can hide easier, finding glitched spots on small parts of the map where others can't reach. It could even be for trying to make sure no one survives by placing sensors everywhere as the monster. Everything is different and can be perceived different while playing.

3.: Panic mode :.
Playing as the 'Toy part collectors' is quite a thrilling adventure. Always listening to your senses to avoid being spotted, or trying to time things correctly so you won't mess up and reveal yourself.
The life of a collector is quite panicking. Anything can happen, especially considering the fact that if you do eventually collect all the toy parts, you get to a 'guaranteed loss section'.
What do i mean by a 'guaranteed loss section'? Oh quite simple really. In an asymmetrical game where there is one killer and several survivors. Having the survivors be FORCED to go towards a certain part of the map to do a extremely lengthy task, while the killer is aware of said tasks position and can quite literally camp that task. Doesn't make it a bit fair. And to be perfectly honest, while playing as the collectors, it sucks a lot when there are notifications for things that are somewhat unfair, like pinpoint locations of where people are, or where someone is being rescued, or something remotely similar is quite demoralising.
I also commonly find myself swearing when i get downed by a monster, commonly when i am attempting to do a puzzle.

4.: Meme mode :.
Quite literally the simplest of modes. Trying to do funny things and make people laugh. Finding funny glitches or bugs, testing out how a game works, playing the game with a full group of friends.
It's really easy to have fun in this game, this statement could also be said about ANY game.

And that ends my thoughts on how *I* think the different modes of this game are.

In general the game is rather buggy, having a lot of issues joining lobbies and clipping through walls. But the game is really fun either way and i would recommend it if you enjoy playing these kind of games with your friends!
