Currently I have only played 2 hours in the story mode solo, but I can see this easily becoming a time sink.
It is a crafting survival game similiar to Valheim (not as hard) and Minecraft (maybe a bit less creative?). It is set into the LotR universe and lore, although I have yet to actually read a bit into it. The feel is very LotR with the architecture, style of armor etc. The Dwarven look itself may be a little awkward but it is not something that bothered me when actually playing the game.

There is some light character customization with a lot of freedom on how to combine different options. The combat could have a bit more polish but it is good enough to play with and isn't too bothersome. Hopefully they will polish it a bit more.
Where the game really shines is the crafting and digging. Again, currently I don't have too much time in the game but what I've seen so far it seems really fun and is pretty easy to get into. There are wood/stone structures, you unlock crafts through different ways by finding and repairing statues, solving puzzles to open chests or explore and find a certain items. This is very rewarding and doesn't feel like it is slowing down progress.

You make food to stay away from starving, certain foods gives buff depending on the time of day you eat it (this is displayed in the info desribing the food) which is an interesting choice and adds a bit of depth in the gameplay. Your base can get invaded by enemies so you may have to go back and defend your base.
I can see this game being more fun with others than solo, but solo is also fun and enganging.

One really bad thing that I encountered first thing starting up the game is getting stuck on a white screen where there should be a cinematic and unable to skip past it. This have a solution and the devs are aware of it (see pinned in discussion). Hopefully this can be permanently fixed

All in all I would say this is a solid 6/10 maybe even 7/10. It is a little clunky to play but fun enough where I can see past it. If it is on sale it is worth getting, it is already on the cheaper side full price.

Played through this game 3 to 4 times, mainly on the PS5 and now even on PC. The game is one of the best ones in the Souls series and the DLC just added more to an already great game. If you have never played a souls game this is probably one of the best ones to start with. There are plenty of guides, bosses that actually makes you feel like you are killing a God, absolutely STUNNINGLY beautiful areas that you will discover and if you are up for the task a great story too.

Downsides is you get almost nothing given to you so this game requires a lot of exploration for the best experience.

I have played mostly wow and runescape in my life (probably surpassing FFXIV by a twice or three times as much time in game) and I have to say this game is great. Probably the best story (ARR to Endwalker) in any MMO that I have played through.
Con is the story arc took me around 600-700 hours to finish. That is not skipping cutscenes etc to try and get the whole picture. If you can get past the huge chore which is ARR you should have an easy time to finish the rest since it just gets better.

Not gonna lie, I have been enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would when I bought it on sale. Have been following the game from sporadically since launch to see if the reviews would get better, and finally this is the time. Apparently many bugs since launch have been fixed and classes reworked.

The melee weapons feel like they look. I didnt expect any of the chain blade/axes to be enjoyable but ended up being one of my favorite weapon. You can feel the hit to your very core when the blade connects and stays for a moment, blood spurting everywhere and the sinner fall down to the ground.

All I can say is PURGE THE HERETICS!!!

Picked this game up on recommendation from a family member and it doesn't dissapoint.
It plays like a Zelda game but with more of a Souls-style feel to it since the combat can be pretty punishing but also that the story is hidden in a manual written in a language you do not understand except for bits and pieces.

On the other hand if you like puzzle games then this is something to consider strongly. It has really been a while since I had a game where a notepad is almost mandatory. Besides the rewards for solving one puzzle is often the ability to solve many of the rest as they tend to build on eachother. I have yet to complete the game fully, though I doubt it will get any worse from the point I'm at.

After playing two hours I can tell you this is a just like my first Dark Souls experience. The learning curve is damn steep but as soon a you get somewhat of a hand of it it gets super fun.
Just like in Dark Souls the game doesn't tell you what to do. It gives a scene of the story and throws you right in, explains the controls and kinda gives you a type of "tutorial". It fits any person that likes exploring and figuring out stuff on their own, but it might take some time.

So far my experience is good, I would perhaps need to play a few more hours, but so far I really like the game and is interested in how it will turn out.

Bought it in Early access around two years ago, played around for ~20 hours but got bored quite quickly of it afterwards. I then noticed how the game got released just now and decided to try it again.

I go into the game and is greeted with a new tutorial mission. Happily suprised I jump into the story and quickly progress towards when you can get to explore. It takes me a little while, but soon enough realise you have to progress the main quest a bit more before I get the true experience and access to everything.
This makes it feels a bit tedious (especially since I notice this around 5 hours in) to the gameplay and shouldn't be necessary in my honest opinion considering that this is an open exploration game. As much as that sucked I was still hooked to continue exploring and soon enough I'm hooked way much deeper into the game, adding atleast another 15 hours to it in just 2 days.

I love the art and the feel of the game, how you craft and how it progresses by exploring more planets. Only real downside I have with the game currently is that I don't know if it is worth spending time to build any main base; this is due to the fact that I still HAVE to go to other planets for certain resources and with a ship that travels pretty slowly between planets this can be quite annoying. Good part is that you can buy teleporters later in the game to use, yet I would like it to be more accessible earlier. Who knows, maybe I'm just lazy.

I highly recommend the game, and this is coming from a person who generally never got stuck for these sandbox type games!
