My favorite part of Rimworld:

is how I go from ... like ... "barbie-house" gameplay, where ~~ oh this chair goes here ~~ and it will look nice for them, oh put carpet around the TV aww perfect ... hey maybe we have enough food stores to make some *fine* meals! MmMmm

... straight into xcom RTS tense battles

I try to min-max EVERY pawn only doing a couple ticks at a time.

*BUZZER* Oh God a man-eating Elephant!!! I use some no-skill guy to kite the raging elephant around in a circle... "cannon fodder" I nicknamed him.

The pachyderm continues to rage and chase him around in a circle while my firing squad of rag-tag roughians take it down. Clad with makeshift cudgels and scrap-cloth parkas ... no underwear, beaming red from an infection that will surely take their leg.

The beast is defeated!

To the victor go the spoils, piles of meat and valuable leather to make new clothing. Anything other than a tarzan-cloth rag like some gollum mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the woods.

... and then go back to placing flower pots in my hallways that won't occlude traffic.. that way they will be in a good mood, maybe brighten their day a little. Y'know? Check on my magic green tree to see if it's happy that I didn't build a wall on their area.
