I backed this game on Kickstarter, so I've been anticipating it for a while now.

To begin with the things that I like, I have to say that the visual style is great, and the music is perfect for the feel of the game.

The gameplay itself is a little confusing at first, and even when you've got the basics done it is still pretty easy to get to a point where you're stuck. I had the game set on "Relaxing" difficulty, and after an hour or so I couldn't find a way to progress.

I would set off from the island, head to the second part of the first area, and then just move around in circles. I managed to start a garden with a couple of plants, but that was it. I would just move around the only place with other exits, but I couldn't find them. I think I must have forgotten a mechanic for traveling north, south, east, or west with the long range engines or whatever. The game gives you no hints.

I plan to come back to this when the developers have had time to gather feedback and maybe make some changes. Or maybe I'll just go through the tutorial again. :)

I watched this game get built over the last couple of years and found it really interesting to see it evolve. I played the pre-release versions a little bit, but I wanted to save my experience for the full game. Now it's been out for a month or so I finally got time to play it properly, and I'm so glad.

I finished all of the checklist items, and unlocked all animal species. There are still a fair few plant species that I haven't unlocked, and I'm not convinced I'm going to go back just for that. I'll potentially just start a new game and see what happens.

I was looking for a game that my wife and I could play together. she loves The Sims, and has a small obsession with Banished, so this seemed like a good fit.

Right now we're still working on our first city, and we just got to 9000 citizens. We're having fun with it and only work on the city together. Very enjoyable.

I would like to go back and start the city from scratch knowing what we know now, but our citizens need us.
