No nonsense way of playing Deus Ex without fishing out launchers and patches; I recommend only fishing out an OpenAL driver for surround sound.

You can play the game vanilla by checking the drop downs in the game settings. Personally I'll always play this version cause it has left handed Denton!

Otherwise, it's Deus Ex; If you've never played it before, try a lethal run with some occassional stealth and experiment and THEN try a non-lethal run. You will enjoy the game more that way.

A very faithful remake of the original. I am a stickler for the voice acting cause the original had a goofy 90s charm to it, and it's hard to replace the incredibly memorable sound design, but the quality of life improvements and facelift make this an uncanny take of the original game. Also they did the Cortex Reaver justice like Mr X in Resident Evil 2 remake and it's more terrifying than ever!

My only major criticisms really are the choice of game engine. It's Unreal engine 5 tech. I get it, it's standard, but it's quirks are glaringly obvious; namely how the tessellation on floor panels pop in and out of existence even on the highest graphics settings. It's a bummer they didn't continue with Unity and avoid the trend of game engine democratisation but I get it.

You should still try the original, preferably with modern controls, but I'm glad this exists.

This game has a "Hit stop" system such that when you kill enemies, the game freezes for a split second. This would be fine if done right, but it feels weird and I was convinced I was skipping frames. It also happens just shooting enemies too which is especially weird.

Some people may like this design choice but it's not for me.

Game from my childhood; It's short and sweet and a time capsule from the early 2000s when times were simpler.

Play Fear 1 and ignore the rest of the series. Don't even think about the bundle unless you have morbid curiosity about how this IP got driven into the ground.

Fear represents a depressing timeline in which Half Life as a franchise was messed with by meddling executives and eventually chased the Call of Duty trend of the late 2000s and early 2010s. This game was a solid shooter released during a golden age for shooters along side Bioshock and shortly after Half Life 2 and Doom 3.

I recommend playing it in the dark, not cause of scares (They havent aged well), but more cause of it's tone. It's moody, dark and lonely and it just feels wrong to play in a well lit room.

It's more fun if you pretend this is a Resident Evil game with Umbrella being up to no good again, or being familiar with Akira.

I like that you don't have to hold onto weapons and can go nuts playing however you want as it doesn't really punish you for experimenting.

You will need a dll fix to fix frame rate issues and you may need to enable V-Sync as well at which point the game runs fine (Or at least it ran fine on my AMD card, it didnt run well on my Nvidia card).

But yeah, dont bother with the sequels unless you want to be really depressed about they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the IP in the worst possible way.

According to the Nier gods this isn't a remaster but an upgrade, hence the name which is not 2.0 or 1.5 but the square root of 1.5. And it's a very good upgrade. Everything that made the original clunky and tedious is now ironed out and fun and letting the parts that were always great shine.

Yoko Taro loves telling stories within stories and it's all very engaging. It's like poetry in playable form.

Very memorable, everything has a purpose and you will become a fan of Yoko Taro's work instantly.

If you have friends who want to play zombies, just get the Chronicles collection when its on sale, and try out modded maps; It's a pretty good deal when discounted.
