As of the latest patch I would no longer recommend it, too much of a choir.

First off I like to say I really enjoy this game not only because of the unique concept but also because it requires a lot of skill and knowlegde.
You could say it is a turn based rogue-like, though the beat is the turn, so if you don't follow the beat you will lose your chance to do something.

It takes some time to get used to the game, and there will be a lot of deaths, but at some point you will start learning the patterns and that is when the game really begins, you can speedrun it, score run it and you can even race it with other people.

Even if it is a early access game, it got so much content and depth I would recommend buying it right now!

Another thing to consider is the community it is great try going to the Necrodancer forums and you will see all kinds of great discussions.
