This game is good. I won't lie. I love it (over 6700 hours).
But it constantly lags (estimating every 15 minutes) on official server and it CANNOT ever be fixed due to the old programming. This causes problems ingame ... you or your dino might die depending on what you're doing at the time.
In single player its a dam dream with no lag unless you have something like 500+ dinos out in close proximity.

Ark2 will be launched sometime and apparently will be better than this.
So you can either wait lol or ... try it out now and see if you like the mechanics and features, game play and what not. I find it well worth the money I spent including all the DLCs, its LOTS of fun and never seems to get old.
