A fun little rougelike where you invade a planet, spend 4 hours murdering all the native wildlife, blow all your money gambling on chance shrines, piss on the moon, and then light your GPU on fire because you have 300 items all trying to create 70 million different particle effects at the same time.

Early Access Review
Like everyone has been saying, it's basically Terraria in space, but much more than that. Honestly, the only things Starbound and Terraria have in common are the fact they're both 2D and have sandbox elements. Starbound has its own personality to it. It looks, feels, and plays very different from Terraria, and in a good way.

One thing I have to say I love is the music. One of my friends, listening to the soundtrack, said "It sounds like Halo" because if it's orchestrated style tracks. It's calm and adventurous when exploring the world, and picks up into a more intense mood during battle.

Pretty much EVERYTHING in the game is completely randomly generated. Every planet is unique, the enemies are randomly generated and have different attacks and levels of aggresiveness, and the tutorial is very loose and leaves a lot of room for you to explore on your own, plus it's completely optional. You can even select from one of six races that have their own history, culture, weapons, armor, and even religion.

The game is still in early beta (at the time that I am writing this at least. Hello future beings!), so it's still a little unstable, but that's understandable.

It's a great game with a carefully molded atmosphere that really puts you in the shoes of your character. Definitely worth a try!
