With PubG being one of the two giants of the BR space, one would think that the game has more redeeming qualities than the fact it's pretty.

And yet, it doesnt.

I decided to revist the game having not played since Miramar's release, and I can only describe my experience as disheartening. I've heard that there was a huge performance pass, and that combined with my upgrade to a GTX 1080 card really did help, but only in making the same graphical issues that have existed since Early Access minor nuisances as opposed to game-breaking. Pop in is rediculous sometimes, the quality of textures varies wildly, especially in First Person, and framerate stutters are still present. Monetization is still awful, which is disappointing but not unexpected.

The most alarming thing has to be the fact that there's nothing this game does some other BR title doesn't do better. The movement feels sluggish, gunplay feels inconsistent, looting is a chore, vehicle physics are lackluster, I could go on. Like I said above, "It's pretty" is all the game really has going for it. I can't recommend dropping $30 on this when you have things like Black Ops 4's Blackout for 10 bucks more, or Ring of Elysium for free.

TL;DR: Very stylized, very fast-paced Vindictus with waifus. Approx. 12 hours of actual playtime so far, would recommend.

Before I dig into the nitty gritty, a disclaimer: My main character at the time of writing is Level 37. I cannot speak to the depth/longevity of the endgame at this point.

That being said, Kritika is an instance based, action-brawler loot-fest. The first comparison I made was to Nexon's Vindictus, but approximately 14x better. As far as I've progressed, progression is straightforward and not confusing at all. Combat is a fast paced, adrenaline-fueled ballet through the zones mobs, especially on higher difficulties. Crafting is there, and if you do the smart thing and play higher difficulty instances, you'll amass so many crafting resources from junk gear you'll be well off if you begin enhancing/crafting gear. I don't have much experience with the game's PvP offerings, but it feels similar to Blade and Soul's arena gametypes.

The cash shop seems fair at best and reasonable at the worse: Cosmetic costume pieces can be slotted with very slight stat bonuses on equip, but we're talking +4 points on a stat that offers +16 at half the level cap. These stats may feel "essential" for those willing to min/max a character, but this also brings me to my next point: At the time of writing, betweeen both the current leveling event and the event for leveling the new class, there's opportunities to earn a great deal of cash currency, which can be used to buy the aforementioned costumes. Ultimately, not a big deal.

I cannot pull myself away from this game. Something about it keeps me coming back. My two complaints are the visuals are a bit lackluster, and the instances themselves are used in tandem a bit too often (Currently running the same "course" 4x in a row). Otherwise, if you're into brawler-esque games, Kritika is well worth your time. After repeated attempts to get into games of this genre, this is the one that hooked me.

บทวิจารณ์ CS: GO
Coming from someone with 1,000 hours, I can no longer recommend this game for anyone looking to to get their tactical shooter fix. After the longest break between operations yet, we get an event with 3 maps that have already been on rotation, Agency for the fourth time. In the meantime, we've gotten multiple new cases featuring skins that a majority of the playerbase will never get to see, new sounds for all the guns (Cause that's what this game really needed!) and a borked matchmaking system that Valve refuses to explain. You win seven games in a row topfragging and nothing happens. You lose three games in a row and rank down. It's been like this for over a year, and the variety of player skill in the lower ranks means you stomp the other team or get stomped yourself. There is zero middle ground.

If you're looking for surf, zombie, bhop, etc. servers, knock yourself out. If you're looking for a competitive FPS, look elsewhere. I've played CS for almost a decade at this point and I can say, without a doubt in my mine, Valve doesn't know what they're doing at this point.

Is the game bad? No.
Is the game P2W like I've seen some reviewers claim? I couldn't tell you.
Is the game trying to emulate a popular shooter and doing a sub-par job at it? Yes.

When I first saw Paladins, I saw large maps with mount transportation and moba-esque lane progression. What Paladins is now is Overwatch with no class switching and a card system remarkably similar to the one seen in Paragon. Almost every character's ability "kit" is predominately copied from a character in Overwatch, usually with variations to the ultimate. The card system used in lieu of a moba's item shop is lackluster, limited, and could potentially be seen as pay to win due to that nature of aquiring new cards through crates (which can be purchased a la carte). The game runs well, but this comes as no surprise: it doesn't look that great, either.

I cannot, with a sound conscience, recommend this game for most people. The source material this game is referencing has more polish, no superfluous items, and lacks the free-to-play shop gimmicks present here. If you can seriously see yourself spending any more than $40 on this game, don't. Please save that money and go buy the better game.

Hi [USER_NAME_HERE], you have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years!

SUPERHOT really does like to tout itself as the most innovate shooter to come out in a very long time, and I have to agree with them. Never have I played through an entire (albeit short) campaign with a goofy smile on my face the whole time before today. The mechanic of "Time only moves when you do" is pretty easy to grasp, but this doesn't inherently make you a god. Pretty soon you're juggling between keeping track of weapons, bullets, enemy placement and so on as you barrel into a room with 4 people shooting at you all at the same time. Bullets can be shot, sliced, or blocked mid-flight, which leads to some butt-clenchingly tense moments where your last bullet gets shot out of the air and have to change your plan accordingly.

A lot of people have been using the complaint of "Game is only two hours, not worth the money," and I don't necessarily agree with that. The campaign is good, but short, sure. Upon completing your first run of the campaign, challenge and endless modes become unlocked. Endless mode throws you in an arena and throws enemies at you, and challenge mode puts different modifiers and restrictions on the campaign. And these modifiers change up the way the game is played, drastically in some cases: KATANAONLY restricts your weapons to, well, a katana. No longer can you spray down that hallway with an assault rifle, and you must approach the level in an entirely different way.

So yeah, the campaign is two hours, but saying that's all there is to the game is like playing through one ending of The Stanley Parable and saying "Wow, that's it?" Frankly, this game is like the lovechild of Hotline Miami and The Matrix, and if you're looking for a game that makes you feel like a total badass, this is your fix. SUPERHOT is, forgive me, super hot, and if you're willing to play the campaign again in different ways, is well worth your money.

Diablo, Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden all had a child...

And it's name is Warframe, a Co-op 4 player third person shooter with gear crafting, randomly generated levels, and a dungeon system designed for the loot fanatics in all of us.
If you're looking to try it, by all means: do it. The Free to Play model is one of the best in the market, the combat is fast and fluid, and there's a very large ammount of content to experience.

Pros:

  • Free To Play done right: Premium currency can be traded to other players in exchange for a variety of items. With enough play time, anything in the game can be yours for absolutely free. Weapons are balanced independently in PvE and PvP, so there's no one gun that is miles better than any other.
  • Everything is obtainable: All the warframes ("classes") and weapons in the game can be crafted from resource drops or parts dropped in mission or at the end of a mission, respectively. There's dozens and dozens of weapons, glaives to jet powered maces, lightning guns to harpoon guns, throwing stars to rocket launcher pistols. I can guaruntee you if you're thinking of a weapon, it's here.
  • Randomly generated missions: Each mission you pick has a tileset that the level is generated from. You will see the same rooms here and there, but no two missions ever have the same layout. Tilesets and additions to existing ones are being added all the time; Just last update we got a brand new one.
  • Frequent updates: Major updates containing warframes and boss fight re-works are more sparse, but weapons and smaller items like that generally get added once every week, sometimes every two.
  • The game is very pretty: For a Free To Play game, Warframe has to be one of the best looking visually, and not only graphically. The "Cybergothic" design of the game is very refreshing, especially between the different factions. The Grineer look very mechanical and grungy, while the Orokin Tower's white-and-gold trim feels very clean and refined. If your PC is a bit on the lower-spec side of the spectrum, the setting can be cranked to to where it will definitely be playable, but if your rig has some oomph to it, you're in for a treat.
  • Variety: General missions range from stealth to defense missions, but that's only a fraction of what is available. In addition to that, you have boss runs, 8 person raids, 3 different PvP modes, Voids (dungeons), Story oriented quests, a Flappy Bird minigame, you name it.

    Cons:

  • Can become grindy: Getting a specific item may require some praying to RNGsus from time to time. This can become somewhat frustrating for the orokin void if you only need a specific part and feel like you're getting everything else on the drop table. Considering you can sell those items into one of two currencies, though, they're not entirely worthless.
  • "I don't know what to do now": This is a common thing I hear from some friends who recently got back into the game. While they have vastly improved the new player experience since day one (Pick a warframe to start, go), the game can feel overwhelming in regards to what to work for. My recommendation would be this: Start by completing your starter quests, and then hit up the Warframe Wiki. Look around the Warframes and Weapons available, and find one or two of each and make obtaining those items your goal from the get go.

Ultimately, Warframe may very well be my favorite game on steam (it's certainly my most played). A fast paced, not Pay-To-Win shooter that satiates any loot craving you may be having, Warframe is a game I recommend to any shooter or dungeon crawler fan. Couple that with the passionate Development team, a predominately friendly community, and a price point of Free.99, Space Ninjas with Magic Warframe is well worth your time and your attention.
