I had a lot of fun with this game and bought some battle passes, but now the game is unplayable. Literally. The devs blocked my steamdeck and linux computer. Congrats devs on eliminating 0.01% of cheaters.

If you remember playing older COD games and want to try this one out, don't! From the moment you open it there are immediate red flags, an inescapable page telling you to buy the battle pass with the only option being continue, while the fancy menu graphics try to load in every single thing for you to see the battle pass. I was excited to see more zombies content however if you've played classic zombies, as in anything before cold war and partially including cold war, you would expect to see cool maps with interesting and well thought out paths, locations, perk machines and maybe even some gimmicks. In MWiii (2022) you instead get dropped into a battle royale sized map with a loadout and the only objective being to exfil, or leave the map at a certain round. Before you can play anything ofc you first need to download shaders, these are not included in the game download like many players would be familiar with, rather they only download while you have the game open and its fully rendered menus that take a lot of power and run at one or two fps while downloading the shaders, which have an unresponsive progress meter and can take from half an hour to a couple of hours to download and install. Once you finally get to play the game you will pretty quickly realize the devs (or maybe just the publisher) just want to make money regardless of how it makes their game. They wish this was Fortnite. I find many of the player and weapon skins very distracting, if you played mw(2019) you would be familiar with the early version of the shop having cool bullet trails and maybe some mildly colorful playermodels and skins. In this game theres literally gundam playermodels, random bright and colorful tacticool guns, flashy assassination animations and just about anything else a child would want to put in their parent's credit card for. The gunplay itself isn't awful, although even at low settings with the recommended system specs the game runs very poorly with a lot of input lag, so you need at least a 40 series card or a 3080 at the minimum to play this game at low settings with alright performance.

TLDR:
Takes up to a couple hours even after the 100+ gigabyte download to get started
The game costs $70 and has more in app purchases than clash of clans
Performance is very poorly optimized, even on low settings with recommended hardware
Gameplay fails to live up to earlier games in the franchise
Cannot turn off other players distracting cosmetics.


If you want to play cod zombies I recommend BO3 + zombies chronicles
If you want modern call of duty with much less bloat try MW(2019)
If you want peak multiplayer try whichever one you played as a kid the most.

I don't want to spoil anything but it is a very fun game with great characters, if you want to play a game that will take 9-11 hours and enjoy it to its fullest then this is your game. I gotta thank Humble Monthly for this one.
