Yeah it's good fun. Very simplified traffic mechanics, but a overall fun game with interesting quirks.
If you want something more complex cities skylines is the way to go.

Good game

Unfortunately, this game has a very steep learning curve, and many issues that make it ever more difficult get into the game. (And enjoy it.)

That means that most people are easily turned away from the game initially. Like most other sandbox games, the niche community is what keeps it alive. And this means that instead of drawing more and more new players to ascertain income for the developers, that is not feasible. Instead, the dev team gets their income from more DLC's. This isn't necessarily bad, but is just an unfortunate downside to a game that fulfils a small niche, and has a pretty steep learning curve for new players.

With this in mind, if you think that you fall into this niche, then sure, get the DLC.
But if you just purchased the game, you may be more on edge, I would recommend learning to enjoy the game, before investing more.

So in this case, I am not recommending this DLC.

Yeah, cool physics. Definitely not a game that you could sink many hours into with just the story mode.
The modding community is pretty healthy. But is still isn't enough to play more than 50 hours in a year. The game is not worth the money at the moment.

Cool game just to stuff around with. Bit pricey tho.

The game is pretty bad by modern standards, the graphics are dated, FPV seems like an afterthought, toggle ADS, crouch and prone. It just feels wrong.

But free is free.

TLDR: The game is a worthwhile play, it is enjoyable.
However the game can be quite slow and boring at times.
Progression through the story is optional but pretty much required.
The game is worthwhile with a discount.

I personally think this game is quite a bit of fun. It's very engaging and the concept of this gamestyle is really interesting.

The game is centred around the survival aspect of 'The Forest'. Similar to other games such as Rust, Raft, Dayz, Minecraft. Your aim is to survive for as long as possible, on both natural resources and resources gathered from surrounding establishments.

Where this game differs from the afore mentioned games, is that there is a strong emphasis on the plot and story of the game, in which you must locate your son Timmy, who was taken by a cannibal not long after the plane crashed.

Although the story is technically optional, it is pretty much necessary to have any fun and to progress in equipment. As the majority of supplies such as food and water, as well as upgraded tools are acquired by engaging in the story.

The story in particular is quite interesting, there is definitely a lot that could be delved into regarding lore, and the story unfolds itself very nicely.

My only criticism with the game would be that it can be quite difficult initially, due to the lack of instructions. However this is also a good thing as the game teaches you the mechanics through failure.

One thing to note however; the game is able to be completed within 1 hour. It is usually done much longer within the 15 - 30hr mark from other reviews and mentions.
I personally found the game far to slow paced for my likings. It is far too difficult to locate the items and is very redundant. So through the use of a walkthrough or two - to guide me in the right direction (after doing the same thing for an hour). I was able to comfortably complete the game in 11hrs feeling very satisfied with the story.
