Worth it at 6 bucks on sale. It both feels like Battlefield but also doesn't at the same time.

Suspect AI difficulty at the moment makes this game *very* unforgiving with seemingly sub-second reaction times and long distance hearing. The SWAT AI is kinda janky, they like to crowd doorways which pushed me to get really good at ordering them around with the prompts; they also will clear an entire room, even if that entire room is a warehouse full of bad guys and will probably get killed in the process.

To me those issues just make this game more challenging, and it still is a fun game. The different loadouts you can run are also very impressive, and there are multiple ways to handle a mission (entrances, lethal/non-lethal, quiet/loud) . If you enjoy slower paced, but fast reaction time shooters than I'd recommend this.

I've played the original standalone Insurgency since it came out and have played Sandstorm since it was in beta, and I've found the niche that this game fills is the same as it's predecessor: one where I don't want to hop on a long winded match of Hell Let Loose or Tarkov, but I'm also not in the mood for a bullet sponge game like Battlefield or Halo.

In essence, it's a good mix of realism and arcade shooter. The weapon choices are interesting (but imo for this game the weapon caliber matters more than the weapon itself considering how fast the TTK is). The cosmetics are cool I guess, although Security has cooler looking stuff than Insurgents. The game modes are fun, with both co-op and pvp options. The commander role is fun sometimes but is seldom used since its weapon choices are limited and the abilities require you to actually be able to see the point you want it to hit, unlike HLL or Rising Storm where the commander calls it from the map.

If you're into "realistic", but not "realistic-that-it's-a-chore-to-play" I recommend this game. If you're coming from the AAA FPS games I'd still recommend this game. Hell, if you all you play is Tarkov and you have a poop bucket because of your crippling addiction to running Lighthouse, I'd recommend this game.

This project really dates back to 2004 when Half-Life 2 came out and people were asking for the original Half-Life to get ported over to the new engine. So modders went to work. 15 years later, we finally have a complete game and by god is it a beautiful recreation of the original game. Sometimes I forget this is actually on the Source Engine with how good the graphics are (especially on Lambda Core and Xen).

Bottom line is if you've never played Half-Life before and you think the graphics of the original are too outdated, pick up this game. Likewise, if you've already played Half-Life, pick this up anyway because it's a testament to the Source modding community and a really good recreation.

For a while now I've been waiting for another good WWII era FPS, and for the past few years my only option was Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm. Then this game hit the market.

Ho. Lee. Schitt.

Now I'm not going to try to compare it to a certain AAA competitor, but almost everything in this game is authentic and historically accurate (I can understand not having swastikas everywhere because some countries ban any Nazi symbols and making localized versions could be a pain to do). There aren't any major reasons to go for the grind except for unlocking different historical units, but they don't provide you with any gameplay bonuses, just make the historian in you nerd out over playing as the 101st Airborne or as a Gurkha. Also, the gunplay in this game is pretty fluid, I actually prefer it over Insurgency's.

While the player count tends to hover somewhere between 800-1500 at any given moment, I tend to find a populated server and have a good time in a non-toxic community, which is a nice breath of fresh air from other FPS's I play.

Finally, I take great enjoyment in playing as a Canadian and mowing down Germans with the Lewis Gun, and this is the only game that has made that an option for me.

Highly reccomend this game for anyone that likes realistic (and historical) FPS games.

As of right now, the game isn't that great. The servers are laggy, you might die at random, zombies just teleport through walls, the hit registry is broken, the inventory system is buggy (such as occassionally not being able to bandage yourself because the game won't register the request). The community is comprised of 80% people who kill on site, 10% of people who have a skype call with their friends who are also playing the game and are probably plotting to kill you, and 5% of people who are actually not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and want to help out. If they made loot less valuable, this might fix this, but they aren't going to fix that anytime soon when the game is running on an engine that Bohemia stopped using because of how bugging it was.

The game has a lot of potential, but if you want to really have a zombie survival experience, just cough up the money for Arma 2 to play the mod.

This game is like the bridge between Battlefield and ARMA.
