First impressions: pretty good

I don't think I've ever been more confused playing a Portal mod before.

I'm gonna be honest, I wanted this ♥♥♥♥ to be good from what I saw. I really did. I'm not trying to just assume this mod is bad just because a lot of people say it's bad, but what I have to say is pretty bad in my opinion.


I haven't fully finished the game, (only got to like halfway through ch2) but from what I've played it seems like a bunch of disjointed ideas that try to work in tandem and just aren't executed well (I got lost a lot of the time just because the game didn't give me any hints as to how to solve the puzzles so I just had to noclip my way to the exit). There was one level where I finished it, but it just restarted the level and put me in a loop. WHAT SENSE IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MAKE???

This is not the way puzzles are meant to be solved at all. The reason Portal is so successful is because it sticks to one concept and as you solve the puzzles, everything just clicks to you. This is just confusing, poorly executed levels merged into one game. I'd imagine this was rushed to marketing just because it got an approval to be on Steam. This feels more like a map pack on the workshop than an actual mod in and of itself.

Also, can we just talk about the one level where there's a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fire? For one, that's gonna be a huge performance strainer if you have weak hardware. Second, how the ♥♥♥♥ are you meant to get out and into the window in time? You barely have time and when you die it really feels it's impossible to beat.


What doesn't make sense to me is as a speedrunner I find the choice to base this game on a version of Portal 2 from 2021 a baffling choice. No SAR support or anything, so speedruns of this game are pretty much impossible if you can't load SAR. That's no fun.


I feel like the "150 new voice lines" advertised isn't really that special to me especially considering a lot of them are low quality, garbled Uberduck pieces of ♥♥♥♥. I get that you can't have the original voices, but having just AI replace it? I don't HATE it, but it really feels lazy.

Speaking of voice acting, I could barely hear SAIC (apparently that's what his name is I wasn't really paying attention). If I had music on, the music would play over SAIC's acting and he would be hella muffled.


With that I've had to rant about, I don't wanna completely call this a total piece of ♥♥♥♥ that should be deleted off the store. Some of the elements are clever, but you don't really have any proper introduction to them.

Q15, if you read this, I hope you can take all that I've mentioned and optimize this so it's actually decent enough to play and actually care.

edit: just finished watching ossy flawol finish this. yeah this could really use some optimizing and actual polish. maybe a bit of originality too. thats not meant to be harsh i just thought that a lot of stuff was copy and pasted from already existing mods and in the case of maps, maps within the portal games. it just didnt really feel right imo. aperture tag remakes smooth jazz (the level right after the portal gun, sp_a1_intro4 for those who prefer hammer names) and makes it fit with the paint gun

but yeah. Q15, def work on this a bit more so you can actually change people's mind around

This mod is fantastic. Considering that it has been highly anticipated ever since it was announced, it's perfect for anyone who's played Portal 2 previously and speedrunners. Speaking of which, it's cool how this game basically acknowledges the fact that you're speedrunning. Either way, this game was totally worth the hype it got. Although you may need to own Portal 2, it's still worth it to spend the 10 bucks you're going to need. So what are you waiting for? Download the mod and experience the world of four dimensions today.

This game is great! It combines the puzzle mechanics with a story that is just... lovely. If there's any game I could recommend, it's probably this one. And its sequel. Definitely recommend it.

very fun game, its like murder mystery but its slightly different. still a really fun game

this is useful for making portal animations, source engine game animations, pretty fun, but a little hard to use

guess who needs a break from this game because dear ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god ive got way too many hours (mostly afk) in this perfectly normal game with no issues whatsoever
