We banded together and looked injustice in the face... and won! Well done Divers!

This a fun and great game that teaches you to stick together in the face of danger. To overcome the odds and persevere!

This game has had quite the development cycle.. and it hasn't been for the better.

Every update (being months upon months in-between) seems to change things randomly. Working mechanics that seem alright get tossed out for new "balance swaps." Half the game seems like its in a constant beta, or even alpha state.

Most recently they ported to the Nintendo Switch, but then realizing that the game doesn't perform well on that console decided that they would reduce the overall quality of the game into a single version for all platforms. While its performance on PC was alright, not the greatest but it worked. They moved to limit the speed of towers, capping their rate (while previous titles of DD had nearly uncapped. Reduced the overall enemy count and then also seemed to have slowed their spawn rate, in exchange for higher HP scaling and damage.

These changes have severely fragmented a already dwindling community. Currently sitting at around 70 player 30-day avg.

TL;DR
Want a better Dungeon Defenders experience? Play DD 1 and install the Redux mod. Way more content that just is more fun.

Where to begin... The game itself is an average ARPG. Mix between PoE and Diablo 3.

It takes a lot of aspects of each game and just mashes it together. It works.. sometimes. But doesn't feel fleshed out.
The game is riddled with bugs, from easily duped items and gold. To broken skills that swing from unusable to extremely gamebreaking.

Progression makes little to no sense half the time.

The core game isn't THAT long as people say. up to 20 hours to beat the story? Only because you spend 30 minutes running from one end of a map to the next.

Servers have been down for nearly 85% since release. Characters have been deleted multiple times, items, gold and progress reset. Now the game doesn't even launch for half of us because we crash during version check.

SKIP THIS GAME! Play PoE or DIablo 3. If you wish to have a more concrete playing experience.

Nothing past the surface, extremely basic. No goals to work for.

DLC WARNING

Where to even begin with this game.. It's been a crazy winding road, with complete 180's, flips and sharp turns.

Dungeon Defenders as an IP. Great concept, the original came out swinging.. made headlines and sold over a million copies. Dungeon Defenders 2.. lackluster from the start. Failed Moba... staff problems, then a rebuilding from the ground up to what you see in front of you now. Please do not be fooled with the hours I, or many people have put into this game. Many of these hours were spent from the "alpha to beta stage" and just a few hours into the release of this product at time of posting.

The core of the game is there, while it spent many years trying many different things from the heroes you play and their towers they place, to the enemies and items you find along the way. It's been interesting to say the least. Many restarts, buffs, and nerfs. We all felt the good and bad of this EA title. This game is now in the "stable" phase and released as a full product. With that said, this game is being updated and having content added semi-regularly, but this comes with a word of caution. Trendy has a wide swing with their patches and updates. You never know what to expect until it hits you. I've enjoyed the game more than i did spend complaining and writing my opinions on their forums.

Just like the original game. It's a solid Tower Defense game, but with a large focus on hero usage... like the end game of the original for DPS'ing down bosses. Plenty of maps to choose, lots of heroes for different play styles. You'r own ability to choose how hard or easy you wish to make the game for yourself. Plenty of varried enemies and mini bosses to slay or have annoy you. Then the big one in the room... Items and RNG to keep you playing till you really can't take it anymore.

The game is in a good place, but I question the motives of a company that starts out saying no "Pay 2 win" and goes along and adds some DLC packs with clear items to trick and confuse future players into spending money.

Example: Dungeon Defenders II - Heroic Edition
ABOUT THIS CONTENT

Be the Defender that Etheria needs (or deserves) with the Heroic Edition! This edition contains:

7,500 Gems to purchase Heroes, Tower Skins, Costumes and more.

5,000,000 Gold for a quick boost in leveling your loot.

The Dryad, Lavamancer and Mystic to add to your deck of heroes.

The Guardian of the Molten Citadel legendary costume for the Squire.

Five Campaign Shard Packs to gear up your heroes faster.

Five Chaos I Shard Packs and One Chaos II, III, and IV Shard Packs to gear up faster in the Trials.

Legendary Katkarot Pet to finally put your power level over 9000.
--------------------------------------------
This is just plain trickery on the consumer... for those of us who joined in early to all future persons.

I have no problem with a company selling some Cash shop currency, to buy the skins, inventory bags, extra characters or even letting a person go buy these shard packs on their own. But marketing these ingame items in a pack that costs $100 USD! Just shameful. The company needs a way to make money, we all know this.. but please do it honestly. Up until now.. everything was somewhat straight forward. You could earn almost everything in game by just playing with the expection being some skins and pets. Why is there a need to market gold and shards in such a pack?

Shard packs are found when beating a map. they drop from your end chest. Now, there is a HUGE RNG chance at getting a designated shard for said tier pack. You are not guaranteed said shard, just the chance to get one.

The gold goes fast in this game.. 5 million might seem like a lot, but you can easily blow through that in minutes upgrade items to get to the next tier.

****PLEASE DO NOT BUY THESE "EDITIONS"****

[TL;DR]
*gameplay - 7/10 : Interesting game, needs more content
*Shady Store front DLC *DO NOT BUY*
*worth playing? Yes, keep your money though
*Don't buy DLC
*Plenty of things to do in this game, and earn without spending money
