Just the right amount of quirky, fun, and difficult. It's a cute little game with a lot of depth and item interactions to it. You'll never die the same way twice... unless you never learn like me.

Stardew Valley is fantastic! It reminds me of Harvest Moon but more modern and with a TON more content! It's beautiful, fun, and you'll find yourself going to bed thinking "man I can't wait to harvest those crops and upgrade my sprinklers!"

After being in development for a long time, Starbound is finally out. If you've played Terraria then you're sure to enjoy this game. It looks good, the fluid and lighting systems are outstanding, and it's got that feeling of "lots of stuff to do". The problem that persist as of right now would be bugs, item errors, descriptions, empty game feeling, odd crafting system, lame bosses, odd progression system, boring mining, pathetic ememy AI/pathing, merchant issues, hollow characters, and a few other things that I personally dislike. However, as with all beta's this is a work in progress. If you have not yet bought the game you should check the change log and game forums both here on Steam and the Starbound website to see if the game is progressing in a direction you agree with.

Terraria is a fantastic game. Any way you slice it, the game is good. Why?
I think what most positive reviews of this game forget about is just how much the player impacts the game. Terraria is designed in such a way that you the player are the defacto king of the cosmos. There is no story progression, cutscenes, level ups, questlines, or... really any story!
Terraria is what you make of it. I really believe that there isn't a better "sandbox" type game out there. I've built pubs with a gambling den of pachinko golfing before a simple right click of some icons and I become a shark minigun wielding maniac with bullets that seek targets. All it takes to change the pace of the game is the sweet sweet use of that Cell Phone you worked so hard to craft.
As you build your base or town or castle or whatever, you start to see it age and grow as you just play the game. There are more random pictures all over the place, banners hung about in every 1x3 space of your house, new rooms for new NPCs, trophies from bosses, a plate of a single chicken nugget next to a cream soda which somehow became the server shrine we pray to. It's really engrossing and nostalgic even within the same play through! THAT is why I think Terraria really sticks with people that see it through even just to Skeletron. You pan over old gravestones from a boss fight in the arena, see a name of a friend you haven't played with since that one time we played through after that one update. While being insanely fun and really rewarding with all the little 1% drop items and little fun toys to play with like the kites, Terraria can also be super soothing. When you use the alternate rain music box and fly a kite on a sunny day on the roof of your base, that super chill feeling that makes you smile, that's totally worth the two dollars I spent on this game back in 2011.
