I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said elsewhere. There's a reason this game pops up in top video game lists time and time again. It's an amazing experience and I wish I could go in blind again. 10/10

Ignoring what Sony did, the devs really poured their hearts into this one. 10/10, best game I've played this year. Glory to Super Earth

I've played this game for over a year now, 1,200 hours. I've done everything from comp matches to community events, commanding the best and worst games, and crashing a lot of helicopters. To say I have played the game is, quite the understatement.
For the last year now I've been running with 1stRB, a Squad community I joined up with in my early days of playing this game, and to be really honest. I don't think I would have played this long, or still continue to play without the communities these games foster.

The ICO (Infantry Combat Overhaul) has many MANY short comings, bugs, issues, and feels at times unfair, and unbalanced, and I won't sugarcoat it especially if you're a new player looking at the game, it's rough at times. But on the other hand these mechanics are at their core, fine. It's not completely awful as some would argue, but it works out pretty well. I've always enjoyed games that let me experience a battlefield where I'm just a small pawn on a larger board, and commanding, seeing where all the little pieces fit, feels fantastic. There's really very few games that give that feel while still being able to pick up and play. Even ARMA doesn't have the good mix of arcade and milsim that Squad has. And I feel it's that mix that allows Squad to thrive.

Now the game is wholly dependent on the communities it has to survive. I'd be remiss to leave them out of the larger picture. I've only ever been with the 1st Recon Battalion since I started, and they are a major reason I still play today. The communities this game fosters are not only massive in scope but also downright amazing how thousands of people can all join up and work together just on holding up the larger group. Background leadership that keeps the the battalion working smoothly, admins managing the servers on the game that the group runs, individual players that take key positions or just play enough that people can recognize them and join them in game. It's the teamwork like what 1stRB has that Squad fosters.

Is it a perfect game? ♥♥♥♥ no, I ♥♥♥♥♥ non stop about it, but I do that while playing in a massive combat sandbox I enjoy, with friends I never would have made otherwise. This single game, defined part of my life for the last year. I made new friends, played other games with them, learned how to work on group projects, hell. I even taught myself enough about website design to make one for the battalion. It's not perfect, pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ far from it, but I'll still have fun playing it for the next thousand hours. OWI, as much as I ♥♥♥♥♥, or call them useless slow working ♥♥♥♥, has really made an impact on my life, and countless others who work with the communities Squad fosters. and for that I'm thankful. Thankful for all the hours I've wasted with friends arguing over what to do, thankful for the time I spent shouting at players to use their brains, and thankful for the community I have pride in being apart of, and all the work they do.

OWI, you have not made a perfect game, hell it's not even a great game, but it still is a good and unique game, and one I'm happy to put another thousand hours into.

I went into this with nothing, a friend said I should play and only said that there's "More then meets the eye" and while I won't spoil it here, I will say that this has been the most depressing, weird, and enjoyable game I have ever played.

Thanks for the fun, and may you make many others cry or be terrified as well.
