>Land on planet
>Collect resources
>Build space ship

Rinse and repeat.

There is not enough content in the game.

For some background: I originally played APB on the GamersFirst launcher through 2012-2016, I actually have over 100 hours logged into the game. Since I recently began playing again after a 4 year pause I decided to revise my original review.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. APB is under new management (Little Orbit) but the game is still void of any potential fun for new players (unless you pay, of course). My character is hardstuck at level 58 because all of the remaining players are max level (200+) with gold ranked weapons and fully upgraded modifications. Most of the gold weapons players obtained were either purchased with real money or at inflated costs in the user-to-user marketplace. The pay-to-win aspect hasn't changed.

As for the actual experience? The game gets pretty boring after the 10th time your character is killed by a rocket launcher, or when the enemy team parks their fully-upgraded car on the objective. Even better if the other team's friends (who aren't on the mission) park their car on the objective so you literally can't destroy / interact with it and then you lose.

I talked to some people in one of the lobbies who defended the grind in order to do get those better guns. I don't know about you, but grinding potentially 100s of hours to have fun is stupid and meaningless. The game should be fun to begin with. Players shouldn't have to pay real money or grind the game to keep my in-game currency guns from expiring. Seriously, I just spent 10k in-game on a gun that expires in 4 days? OK LOL

As each year passes this game gets increasingly outdated. The character creator is already surpassed by several other games on the market (Black Desert, Monster Hunter World, Aion, Jump Force, Dragon Age Inquisition, etc) and the gameplay mechanics have hardly changed since 2012. The same problems that ruined the game several years ago are prominent today. I keep foolishly coming back with the hope that APB will become the next best-MMO, but the chances of that happening are long gone.

FINAL UPDATE 08/29/23
In the next 12 hours, the servers for Audition Online will go offline. All of my accounts and items will be lost in the wipe, leaving behind only memories of a better time.

I suggest playing Audition Latino, or fanmade project Audition Galaxy.
_______________
Second Revision:
Redbana has gotten increasingly greedy within the last year.
* They've removed story mode from the game
To keep players from grinding their EXP.

* The giftboxes that could be purchased from the store using the in-game currency have been removed.

* Game has been bloated with stolen music.
They're profiting off of songs such as "Space Jam" and "Friends" by Marshmellow. As far as I'm aware their offices are situated in the states so it's only a matter of time before they're sued.

* Their website is broken.
Good luck creating an account. You're lucky if you get an email verification.

* In-game purchases made with real money are not permanent.
This has always been an issue with Audition, even in the Nexon days, but this game is on its last leg and I absolutely refuse to support it given my last few points.

Everything that made this game a positive experience have been removed and replaced with features no one asked for. It's bloated and a shell of what it used to be. My 11-year old self is mourning the loss of a great friend.

And no Redbana, offering me Banacash wont make me change my review.

Original Review
Got the Steam version just so I could leave a review on this game.
Do I recommend this game? Yes and no.
If you're looking for an OSU or a DDR clone then you're in the wrong place. Stop leaving negative reviews because it's not the gameplay you expected, that is unfair and childish. If you are looking for games similar to OSU, check out Touch Online.
And no I am not being paid "in-game currency" to publish or write this review. This is all me.

I've been playing Audition Online on and off since the days of Nexon (roughly 2007) and the game has gone through some changes, both good and bad.

For starters: The Steam port is just awful, there is some notable lag spikes in the Steam version versus downloading the game directly from the Redbana website.

This is part of why new users were scared off, the other issue is the lack of noob friendly gameplay and rooms. The community is bad, it's awful, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. I've been banned from rooms for being too good, so I know the pain of getting banned over how you play the game.
The game is also full of non-English speakers, so there is a lot of language boundaries.
Not to mention all of the locked and afk rooms. The game is dying, but not giving it a chance is helping it die faster.
The thing that differs Audition from other rhythm based MMO's is its unique gameplay. It requires a steep learning curve, and that scares a lot of people off. Even back in the days when it was popular, it was scary, but at least noob servers were offered in those days.
Redbana is partly responsible for the game's decline, but so are these negative reviews.
It is corrupt that they tried paying users for good reviews and it is sad that the community is trash, but no one here seems to be trying to fix the issues at hand.
The negative reviews that say all the items in the game cost money are blatantly lying. Yes, some items in the game cost real money, but not all of the items. All MMO's have in-game purchases that are over-priced, get over it.
I'm surprised many people dislike the graphics, if anything they're adorable. The game has a unique look to it. They never tried to be realistic like many other Korean kpop games. There is nothing else like Audition.
The updates are little to none, and not all of the songs are popular, but they lack money. The sheer fact the game is still running is outstanding in on itself. The people behind Redbana have a certain love for it, if they didn't, it wouldn't still exist.

Audition IS a good game. It's fun. Every time I come back I get addicted again. It's challenging and it keeps players on their toes. The game should be reviewed based on its gameplay, and it has fantastic gameplay. There is no denying that. If for a moment you forgot the trash community, the in-game purchases, and lag spikes, you've got a great game.

RECAP:

Pros:
* Character customization
* Challenging gameplay
* Cute graphics
* Many modes
* Lots of songs (This game is very friendly for YouTube gameplay videos, as many of the music is composed by Redbana)
* Items do not affect how well someone plays, a non-paying user is just as good as a paying user

Cons:
* Lack of updates
* Corrupt GMs (game masters)
* Unpopular songs
* In-game purchases (NOT REQUIRED!)
* Takes forever to level up
* Unfriendly to newcomers
* Toxic community

In the end, if you're looking for a challenging rhythm game, Audition Online is for you. If you're looking to make friends or play something similar to OSU, look elsewhere.
