Had a fun time playing the game, and beat it way back in 2018 for the first time, then recently came back in 2024 to play it again. I only found out this time around that once you beat the game and get a... not satisfying ending, you can load back in and play more to get a better one.

This was fun to find out, because it opened the option to pick which Omensight you showed the characters, in order to explore all available options. The game just doesn't tell you to open up your save again, and if you were like "Oh the game was ok but the ending was unsatisfying" and didn't go back in, then you just miss out.

If there's ONE THING that I really hated about this though, it's that you're required to be a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for no justifiable purpose in order to get the true ending;
When you show Draga the last Omensight and go with her to show Indrick, you have to fight him instead of showing him the Omensight you specifically went there to show him in order to get a piece of information needed to make progress towards getting the true ending, and the game makes you feel like a piece of ♥♥♥♥ doing it even though there's no other way to get that information that you need.

Hi-Fi RUSH. Good game. GOOD GAME. Writing? Good. Good writing. Funny writing, legitimately funny writing. Doesn't take itself too seriously, but still manages to tell a really strong story. Good story. Subverts some really common expectations, doesn't try too hard, is just a delight to follow along in all aspects. Fun character designs, fun character personalities, fun characters. Period.

Hi-Fi RUSH is very fast and loose with delicate intricacies of story pacing, and acknowledges this for the sake of making a smoother gameplay experience. The whole game is a grand old time from start to finish, and even if you're terrible at rhythm games, it presents difficulty and accessibility options so you too can try your hand and taking the reins of Chai and tackling the world head-on. Chai doesn't afraid of anything, except maybe robot spiders, but this never comes up in the game so that means he doesn't afraid of anything within the realm of the game that you encounter.

Hi-Fi RUSH gives you options to string together really intricate and cool-looking combos, and also presents you with the ability to ignore those options completely in favor of embracing your inner unga bunga and button mashing your way to victory, albeit at lower efficiency. If you struggle with doing The Cool Combo Moves™ there's an accessibility option that allows you to simply push any attack button to the beat and Chai will pick his own combos to be a cool music fighter all on his own.

Hi-Fi RUSH lets you pet the cat.

This game has taken up so much of my time, and yet I keep giving it more. I'm going to keep giving it more. I don't know how it does it, but it does. I have to collect my warframe children, and grow them all to max rank. It is a quest I know will be hard, but a quest I will undertake. Join me. Or don't, save yourself.

But really, give it a try. It's free, what's there to lose? Besides your soul?

It's good.
Beat Saber is a good game.

It has you feeling like a damn cyber-dancer-ninja guy, hacking at blocks flying at you with reckless abandon, and when you're able to hit all of them without being overwhelmed and you can rock out at the same time as you swing your blades, you feel powerful.

Ok. Imagine Fruit Ninja, if it were combined with a rhythm game, but instead of fruits being launched into the air, there are blocks with arrows on them rushing towards you in cyberspace, and they all make a satisfying slice sound when you slash them.

It's good.
You should give it a shot.

When this first came out on Gamejolt, I sunk a lot of time running around doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and was happy with even that demo it had. With the content added in the steam version, I was able to sink even more time into running around doing absolutely nothing productive, and I enjoyed every minute of it. For the most part.

Yeah, sometimes it feels a bit clunky, or you'd prefer the AI acts slightly differently, but out of the many runs I've had, very few of them were ruined by any sort of problem with the game itself. I'd recommend picking this up in early access if you're alright with some repetition between games.

This game. It's... It's a brutal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But...

It's a brutal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in a GOOD way.
It's an amazing puzzler, and you'll probably be throwing a brick a something a few minutes in, but you'll end up coming back to it eventually. I HIGHLY reccomend picking it up, and when it's on sale? It's a great steal.

P.S.
You'll probably be dying from your head hurting so much, so yeah... watch out for that.
