NEW REVIEW

Don't Starve Together stands among my favorite games on Steam. It's always been a game I can return to playing and it tends to have new content, as Klei is very good at giving their existing games more love. As a fan of playing multiple games with constant content updates, this style of development cycle fits very well into my arsenal of games.

While I understand and support the fact that Klei has made the decision to not have achievements since it negatively impacts the experience of the player, I still as an achievement hunter am disappointed with the lack of achievements being added on Steam. I see the ones on Playstation and Xbox, and I know they are required but I am still disappointed especially since I would have them all, comparing what I have done to the shown achievements on consoles.

As a streamer, and a regular Twitch viewer, I really love the integration with Twitch drops for in game skins, and although I have not streamed the game myself, I have been exposed to many great DST communities through the drops system and I am all for Twitch drops in any game that they make sense for. Klei also has a separate rewards system through their website which I have taken advantage of and have a bunch of materials that I look forward to crafting more skins with when they come out with some that I really like.

The game itself is at its most simple, one of the hardest survival games out there. There is much to learn, and get used to if one plans on seeing all of the content this game has to offer. There is always a looming danger no matter what you do, and the game can really kick your butt if you aren't prepared. That being said, once you get used to surviving, there is tons of content to see, including many unique bosses, a cave system that essentially doubles the map size, and a huge cast of unique characters with different up and downsides who you can swap between at a cost in game.

There is plenty of guides and informative content on the community page, as well as YouTube and Twitch if you are ever stuck, however I recommend attempting to learn all you can by yourself first before. looking for help, as this is how they designed the game. There are also a ton of quality of life mods through the Steam workshop that work really well.

OLD REVIEW

This game has quite the learning curve, but once you get into it, it's super fun to play. Tons of stuff to do, tons of bosses to fight, and goals to accomplish. It may seem difficult at first, but once you get used to it, with the kiting, light situation, and of course, not starving (together) the game really opens up and you can find way more content with confidence. I really like the amount, and quality of content that Klei releases for the game, and I hope it's got quite a bit longer to it's life span.
