There's so much to explore and do in this game. Over 100 hours in, I'm still on my first playthrough and I'm really enjoying it.

The voice acting is excellent and the way your companions react to the stuff you do is great, definitely recommend making your own character so that you can experience the other characters' personalities, character development and banter with each other. Compared to previous RPGs I've played I was really impressed with the amount of freedom I had, there's almost never just 1 thing to do next and the story adapted well enough to my choices that I rarely felt like I was going about something "in the wrong way." The game allows you to fail or shoot yourself in the foot in hilarious ways, but you can save and reload as often as you want so if you're curious what will happen if you pick the funny option instead of the "good" one, you can always quick-save, try it and find out... Unless you play honor mode to try to earn the golden dice, which I'm excited to try at some point in the future.

I like how this game adapts the D&D rules into something that works in a video game. The way the real-time and turn-based modes interact is a bit weird at times, but mostly works for gameplay purposes; for example, if a character is invisible or too far away, they don't automatically join any combat that starts, and you can take your time sneaking up on your enemies in real-time with them while the characters in the combat are frozen in time.

If you like to pet the dog in video games you're going to have a great time. You can not only pet the dog, you can play fetch with the dog, talk to the dog, talk to every other animal you meet, etc. (if you're a cat person, get 'speak with animals', either as a spell or through potions. You will not regret it.)

If you're squeamish about horror and gore, it's good to be aware that there is a lot of it. The game opens up with a lovingly rendered cinematic where you get to see exactly how the parasite got into your characters' brains. Not much later, there's a wriggly exposed brain in a dead guy's skull that asks for help, and you get to choose whether to trust this or not. Definitely a memorable start, as I was not expecting it - I loved it and was grossed out by it at the same time.

The development team is still actively updating this game with bugfixes and bonus features, so if you want the most polished experience for your first playthrough you can wishlist this and get it later. It's not necessary to wait to enjoy this, though: It's already a complete game, and while it does have the occasional bug, I haven't encountered any that ruined my fun. They've just been minor stuff like a line that was missing voice-acting and a few graphics glitches.

So in conclusion: good game. Will play more of it.
