The game should be interesting, the lore is fantastic and the setting is one of my favorites... But somehow it just isn't fun to play. The game's far too micro-intensive, losing some of the feel of the vast fleet battles and that makes every game feel too samey as there are 'meta' builds and strategies. The graphics are fabulous, the art is well done and though the UI is a little cluttered, messy and easy to miss details, it's not difficult to get a reasonable grasp on things fairly quickly. I do wish the game itself would give me more details on the ships during a battle, rather than hiding it all for making space for several rows of hotkeys. It's clearly designed to be a competitive multiplayer game, and it simply fails to capture the beautiful lore with such an approach.

I enjoyed the brief skirmishes during the free weekend, but the campaign is too long-winded, the battles themselves too much focused on micromanagement, and I won't even begin to discuss the cesspit of online competitive gaming, for this game to be anything but an exercise in frustration at what might have been. It might be more fun if you skirmish with friends specifically, but otherwise it's not worth an investment until it's steeply discounted, as it's only a rare "in the mood" skirmish game for me.

From a former fan (and even writer of player-driven content in the early days) I have slowly come to realise the active developers really only care about players that want to enjoy this in an Open-PvP environment.

Lacking in depth, this game has squandered the immense potential it carried through kickstarter and into the early days. The "lifetime" content Frontier offered back then has turned into a joke and their game systems are nothing but prolonged grinds of the most extreme length. The game environment is beautiful, but as they edge towards a game that only rewards people willing to play in a PvP sandbox, they are losing the magic that went with the beauty. It's fun for a short while, until you realise that it's meant as a second job, and a job they're intent on taking all the meaning out of.

Maybe get this on sale, but don't expect anything worthwhile any more unless you PvP and are willing to spend literally weeks grinding to compete. If only I hadn't backed it in kickstarter and believed in the now-wasted potential.

An ultimately disastrous climax to a beloved series in a beloved franchise.

Soulless, bland, characterless. And that's just the straight-to-DVD equivalent to a campaign they laughingly crammed into this title - a campaign that serves only as a badly-written tutorial that bounces maddeningly between characters and factions. The player never truly gets to settle on a personality to feel affinity with, nor choose who he wants to fight for. You have to do all sides, then finally everybody all at once as bizarrely the Orks, Space Marines and Eldar all join forces.

The multiplayer might have held up for a brief time but there is little to nothing interesting here for casual players or strategy players. It's all very middle ground mush in feel. They have developed a game that simply doesn't know what it's meant to be or who it's meant to be marketed to. In the end, it fell down by being $40 of "just some game", a lowest common denominator title that had very little appeal.

It COULD have been a passable game without a Dawn of War brand on the packaging, but really that served to be the final nail in the coffin by leaving many fans feeling betrayed and disappointed in what was served up in the poorly-fitting suit of it's ancestors. There is simply nothing here worth spending money on, not when so many other titles out there need support for interesting ideas that haven't sunk to boardroom consensus decision making in the vain hope that they can hit the big, gold, e-sports jackpot.

This game is now officially abandoned, consigned to the "meh" bucket of tepid, uninspiring sequels, there to rot atop The Godfather 3. A shame, truly, as this brand line once upon a time had managed some truly interesting and fun innovations to the RTS genre without losing itself.

Goodbye Dawn of War.

A game this frustrating shouldn't actually be considered a game. Gone are the days when the controls of a game were meant to be intuitive and comfortable. Now it seems the greater aim is to master a difficult, frustrating and annoyingly laid out control system or you're simply not permitted to explore what the "game" has to offer.

This game was free, and even at that it's overpriced. It was a waste of time downloading, installing and sitting through the obnoxiously loud intro music.

Since many of my board-gaming pals moved away, this game has been a genuine pleasure to play. Despite a few quirks (mostly procedural, and easily fixed with familiarity with the UI) it's a great way to while away a dark winter evening with friends gabbing away on Discord.

Great version of a great board game.

Personally, I think I just have to accept that Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen simply isn't the sort of game I'm going to like. It appears to be a fairly well done port, but the program misses a number of really vital features that PC users expect as basic functions within games. It lacks a quicksave (forgiveable, perhaps) and lacks a good internal display of effects, really requiring a wiki site to get the most out of the game. More documentation would certainly help there, but it also lacks the ability to change views - when you're encouraged (nay, almost required!) to climb about on monsters' backs, the inability to even zoom out a little to see just what the heck you're doing is simply not acceptable. This is a shame, as underneath the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it seems as though there's a great hybrid of story and action game waiting to be explored.

Further, the game crashed during pawn creation and ran unusually resource-heavy during the first few hours of play, which is never a good thing.

Sadly, despite wanting to like this game, at the time of this review, after my all too brief experience, I simply cannot recommend it.

Reseña de Acceso anticipado
In the two rounds I played, I encountered glitches, horrendously toxic players, massive lag, huge load times, baffling controls that didn't feel responsive to what I was actually doing and was randomly forced, in a team with strangers, onto HARD difficulty, when I specifically avoided choosing such difficulty.

I can't recommend this game and, unless something very unique and broken happened to make my game implode, I cannot comprehend why anyone else would recommend a game with this many flaws, quirks and glitches.

The controls are so awful it would be easier playing a banjo while wearing a straightjacket. After having had both hands chewed off by a badger. If you like self-torture sims, hooray. Otherwise, the humour is old and tired and the game is no more than an insincere exercise in frustration.

Are you an intelligent gamer interested in actually reading the colour text and searching between the lines in conversations for clues, looking for a deep, superbly-written role playing experience with a dash of turn-based tactical interest thrown in? Yes? Then you absolutely MUST get Wasteland 2.

I could rave for hours about the old-school feel with the up-to-date features. I could go on and on about the stellar writing that was a core premise of what got me into gaming so many years ago. I could even enthuse about the art style, the tone, the humour, the grittiness and the lack of punches pulled in the overall theme. I won't, I don't need to. If you have any sense or any taste whatsoever, you will play this game, you will give it your attention and your love and in return it will make a little home in your heart such that it will stay with you forever.

Simply superb.

This game is incredibly fun if you play it with a group of friends. The gameplay has just enough to it to keep it interesting in ways other than just a simple 8-way shooter, while remaining comfortably familiar to anyone that's ever played the classic Gauntlet games. With friends, it's a fabulous romp that's well worth the admission fee.

However... How did anyone miss the glaring obvious "Elf can run AND shoot" imbalance? The usual "the other classes have different strengths" argument will come out, which might be true, but the elf can run, attack AND still be picking up all the gold while every other class has to choose between fighting and looting. Unfortunately, with the end level 'scores' active, it is a poor thing to have as wildly an imbalancing play option as that.

Hopefully it will improve, because right now I'm not pleased with the open multiplayer balance. Any competent Elf (that plays selfishly, as the game seems to intend) will make every other player feel like their time spent playing was wasted. That's a real shame on this otherwise good game.

If you play solo, or with a group of cool people on regular occasions, then consider this a recommended game. Otherwise... I cannot recommend this game simply because of this imbalance issues.
