Okay, so, looking at your code ... It's Lua ? Yes, it's Lua.
Perusing Starbound Wiki ... Ok the tools are already in the game assets.

So, if I understand the general concept correctly ;
• I would need to make the following paths :
LongRangeMagneticSuitTech\tech\starbound\magnet\
• Inside a file named :
magnet.projectile.patch
• Which contains the following code :

you can patch the Magnetic suit tech's invisible projectile to increase its range. Change `/physicsForces/magnet/outerRadius` to do so. I'm pretty sure the block range is that number divided by 2. The file is `/tech/starbound/magnet/magnet.projectile`

Great job on Betabound, the amount of things it reintroduce is almost overwhelming.
I was curious :
• Betabound introduces Suit Techs, one of them being Magnetic ( short-range item attractor ) ;
• You created a Loot Magnet, which is a long-range item attractor ;
=> Could it be possible to merge both and create a patch that turns the SUIT magnet into a long-range one ?
