+ Fun with a friend
+ Online play: used to lag, but seems to work fine now.

- Lack of variety
- No urge to continue playing more than 10 minutes at a time

Nidhogg is enjoyable, but a reluctant recommend, as I thought I'd get more time out of it. I only recommend it if it's on sale. If this were a video store, I'd say it's a solid rental. If you want a game with fun saber combat that you'll get dozens of hours out of, I recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

I also teabagged my friend then fell through some clouds and died, so there's that.

The vibrant neon atmosphere, humorous dialogue, and even a bit of challenge make this a charming game with personality. A fine way to spend an evening. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Gamepad recommended.

What do you get when you cross Spider-Man and Mario Kart? Well, a copyright infringement, probably.

But what do you get when you combine their gameplay elements? That's SpeedRunners. It's as fun as Spider-Man Mario Kart sounds and is a great multiplayer experience.

This is one of those great party games that works as either silly fun with friends, or extreme 'Get Out of My Apartment, I'm Serious, Right Now' competition. Funny how quickly the former escalates to the latter with the right game, aye?

Regardless of level of play, you will feel the pressure as the screen closes in, hungry for your demise. Unlike that competition for wimps (think it's called the Olympics or something), there are no silver or bronze medals here. There can only be one!

Though this game is best played with friends, most of my time was spent with random online players. Of which there are definitely enough, though mainly if you can play during evenings or weekends. That's when you have the best luck finding quick matches with fellow rookies. There's a single-player as well but I didn't really touch it lol.

It's just a wacky, sometimes tense, entertaining game that is loads of fun at its most basic yet has a high skill ceiling should you pursue it. So, do you like Mario Kart frenziness, yet want something different and new? Absolutely pick this up,

It's ironic that a game about time travel arrived one year too early before TellTale started to add depth of choice and consequence to their games, as this is just a linear story. You can't blame the game for that, it's just unfortunate that the title that would've benefited most from the modern TellTale treatment just barely missed it.

It definitely has its moments, clever nods to BttF did not go unnoticed, and the voice acting is great. Marty's actor sounds a bit affected in Episode 1, but after that he really nails it. At one point, I was thinking, "Man, Doc's voice actor is spot on too," only to find out that, yeah, it's Christopher Lloyd. That works. I wasn't enraptured by the main direction of the story -- it worked as a "what-if," maybe not BttF IV caliber -- but I really liked a few places they took it.

Ultimately, while there is good, this game didn't add up for me. A lot of the gameplay is tedious and mundane, the mechanics can be wonky, and the narrative is hit-and-miss... and-miss. Hit-and-miss-and-miss is appropriate for much of the game, as it can feel like a dated, drab experience. In a lot of ways, it's a second-rate game.

It's BttF though, so maybe it's worth a try. If you want my advice, a game with real choice-driven narrative is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, so I recommend that.
