This game isnt that good at being scary. If that is your priority, which was certainly mine, this failed the book. However, there is a lot more to say about this game than just that.

A lot of the sanity mechanics just get annoying, and in terms of story, it feels like there is no consequence to getting caught. I understand this is just a mechanic to get around literal death scenes, but for heavens, the character is pregnant and you are telling me that all these tumbles and strikes and having rocks fall on you and all of these things would do absolutely nothing whatsoever?

Also, the character seems exhausted by her motherhood. That is all she cares about, that is all the antagonist cares about, and its very tiring, as someone who is biologically female. There is more to being a female than that, getting pregnant and being a mother doesn't just eliminate your common sense or consideration for others or rationality and considering the nature of what her and her friends had to endure, she was just unrealistically selfish. I almost found myself rooting for the antag in this, because despite some major spoilers, nothing she said was unreasonable in the slightest. She had better points. All the protag had to say was I lost one kid so I cannot lose another and this, to me, even made my ending choice really bizarre, because the most rational and ethical thing to do would go against literally all of what she has been harping on about for the whole damn game.

If this wasnt part of the Amnesia family, it would be better, but the Amnesia name stains it and brings expectations up only to be presented with subpar writing for a game that has SO MUCH WRITING and dialogue. Rather disappointing.

When the game first came out, it felt like you could actually understand what was going on and engage in missions easily. Now, I am not too sure.

Flight controls are not very intuitive. Landing on a planet to do a mission makes little rational sense, as if the attempt to maintain a commitment to a kind of 'realism' about space ship piloting has sacrificed the actual in-practice playability of the game. The starter ship you are given is not very generous in the breadth of motion and turning radius it offers you, which isn't exactly something to look for when you are introducing a new player to flight mechanics.

You would think that the flight tutorial itself would help you with navigating this, but the bots for the combat training drones, which act as a wall for progressing through, have an absolutely terrible AI that makes them difficult to destroy due to how much distance they try to keep from you. Once again, it seems like an attempt to make the game easier for players has made it actually quite difficult -- A more aggressive AI would make these bots actually properly destroyable.

I say this as someone who played the game a good while ago, and managed to get a couple days worth of hours in. I came back for the Odyssey update, but as I have gotten much older, I just do not think that this game as it currently stands is very new-player friendly, and I imagine it is suffering from D1 retention on that basis, not that a paid game needs to worry as much about this.

Very good game, but you should turn up the gamma at some points due to it just being too damn dark. Couldn't complain otherwise.

Pretty good game. Fun and satisfying combat so far, nice maps, locked perspective is not too intrusive, story and quests are not too shabby. Looking at current pay-content, nothing too P2W is there save some stuff to make things "faster", but you can enjoy the game fine without it. Skill trees make your ideal values in combat easy to customize in, so you can have what you think is most important to your play-style.

Only have three gripes so far.

1. The servers all my friends are in are full and I can't make characters there, and there is no clear schedule as to when I could make a character there. Sad, since I want to play with my friends.

2. Very goofy walk and idle animations. Women have excessively swinging hips and overly feminine default pose, men do this weird chest thing that is all too macho and equally goofy. Could have gotten away with much more "boring" animations, probably save money too, and be just fine.

3. For all the goofy, overfeminine and overmasculine animations, we don't have body sliders?? So I can't be excessively thick, despite swinging my hips around like a hoola hoop?? Come on, go the whole way! Let me excessively bodacious with my excessive animations!

Summary: Good game.

Apparently I can't have it for more than one character, and if I buy a second pair or try to, the warning for it says that I won't receive a second copy? What's the point of that? I am literally offering you more money for two ears for my two characters and you won't take it?

But you won't let me share the ears between my two characters either?

Not really cool

UPDATE: Literally as soon as I wrote this, my game updated and let me wear it on both of my characters at the same time.

I stg, but whatever, recommended -- Though do please consider dyable versions or something for people who don't have light skintones

Lots of things to do even for an unfinished game, pretty damn fun. Provides a good challenge.
