While I didn't enjoy too many other games made by Frictional (lack of gameplay wasn't compelling to me), this game is an absolute masterpiece. The character feels relatable, the environments are sufficiently worn-in and feel plausible, and the terror factor is off the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ charts. Don't believe me? I wanted to like this game, I really did.

It started off with some great atmosphere, especially for a game that had yet to receive too much attention. I was really rooting for it... and then It became an Outlast alpha. While I don't think the aforementioned game has exclusive rights to certain mechanics utilized in this game, it definitely felt like a cheap knockoff.

The story is middling and while there's a bit of intrigue in the beginning, the ending totally ruined what the game had been building up to. And for those of you like myself who don't play games for stories, there's still nothing here. While there were a few scary moments and I definitely jumped out of my seat, the combat itself was so poor and inconsistent I had a much scarier time with the controls than I did with any encounter. And while I was impressed graphically (especially with the lighting), it ran too poorly for what it looked like. This ain't any Crysis competitor and yet it ran on my rig as if it were. And when I can get Outlast running at 60 fps with no dips on Ultra, this game has no excuse.

It's a game I may recommend playing in the future if they update it and it's on sale, but for now I must unfortunately recommend anyone reading this to avoid it. EDIT: After being notified that the game has already been patched, I went and investigated. While the framerate has noticeably improved it doesn't really change my opinion on the gameplay itself. Again it's a game I'd recommend keeping an eye on but it's still not a game I'd wish to replay.

I am not one for stories. I skip every cutscene I can, I forget every character's name. But the way the story was told in Narcosis somehow managed to draw me in and care about the character. An immersive experience from beginning to end, I was legitimately reeling at the conclusion to this game and knew that this was something special.

This game, while short, is pretty terrifying for the majority of it. While the story is minimal and gameplay is simple, we're all here for the scares and this game delivers in spades.

This game is, no joke, my GOTY for 2016. While it may look like a simple gimmicky game, there is far more than meets the eye. Without spoiling anything, go into the house in Level 2 to see what I'm talking about. The amount of effort this game has behind it is absolutely astounding.

I don't know why the hell this game is getting reamed in the review section. I for one have had a blast with this game! Yes, there aren't as many maps as other games, but I feel like each one (except maybe the biotech map) is very well balanced, and very befitting of the type of gameplay seen here. It's a much slower FPS, and is one of the few games I've played where I actually don't run everywhere. It's much more methodical, and is the best zombie game I've played in years. This game is for those who find L4D too quick and arcadey, and DayZ too boring. Admittedly I only paid $3.74 for this game, but I don't think I'd feel too ripped off paying $20 for it. I would recommend picking up the 4-pack and playing with friends once it goes on sale.

My new favorite obsession right now. It's pretty much imperative to mod it, as the standalone game is rife with bugs and poor performance, but with even with a simple overhaul like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009, it's one of the most atmospheric games ever. It's actually the only game I've ever played where I will decline jobs from other Stalkers, because I'm too focused on surviving.

I purchased this game for about $6 during one of the steam sales,
and it has definitely been a good purchase. The story is pretty
decent material, with your average plot twists and the like. Combat,
while fun and inventive the first time around, drags on a little bit
towards the middle of the game and becomes rather drab, with
the encounters with the same enemies becoming more and more
dull each time. However, I came into this game not expecting any
scares, and left surprisingly satisfied. The atmosphere is top-notch
for a Third Person game, with some genuine jumps thrown in for
good measure. All-in-all, I'd recommend this game once it goes
back on sale, and I look forward to any sequels that may be announced.
