' The Fallen Knight: Ashes of the Valiant '
~The story unfolds about a knight who was once a joyful young man—full of life, inexperienced yet eager, and his greatest pleasure was found in the things he loved to do, far from the call of responsibility. But now, his eyes have opened to the truth & harsh realities the world of chronicles has to offer.~

"There was once a proud squire, passionate and valuing deep connections, with a fierce hatred for betrayals and a trustworthy friend. This knight, who was once an ignorant yet cheerful squire, spent years accumulating experience and honing his skills in tactics and warfare, except for one thing—Love.

A former squire, now a knight, had spent years solely focusing on his hobbies and developing other skills until one day, he met a village girl in a remote village called Dahlia, far from his stationed garrison.

There, the knight was able to talk to the village girl every three days at night, after his patrols. Though the knight was a bit timid, he managed to hold conversations well enough. Everything changed when he was assigned to Dahlia village, west of Castle Iris garrison. Happily, he was designated to be one of the garrison's knights, allowing him to talk to the village girl again without the burden of traveling back and forth.

Days passed quickly, and two years went by. The village prospered, and the bond between the knight and the village girl grew into love. But the knight, inexperienced in matters of the heart and skilled only in wielding a blade, struggled. The village girl, who likes pink flowers and loved for stray cats, had been neglected in her youth and had never truly known love.

Fate whispered, and destiny twirled, as the two were intertwined by the winds of magic. For almost a year, they acted like lovers, though few of the knights and villagers noticed the sweet bond they shared. But their happiness was short-lived, as disturbing rumors began to surface.

A shadow loomed in the north side of the forest. A threat arose, and the knight and his fellow garrison members began investigating the rumors of a figure who commanded shadows in the woods. Months passed, and the knight and the village girl, with little to no contact, watched as their relationship deteriorated, leaving them confused, anxious, and avoidant. Their situation became sour, and little did the knight know, she had already left the village.

After almost three months of the expedition on the woods, the knights returned to their post, and this knight who is eager to find the village girl. But when he arrived, he received a letter that read: "I'm sorry, but I must journey to the west of Dahlia village for a week." The knight asked the locals where she had gone, but no one had answers. One day, the village girl appeared, accompanied by a knight, a knight who had trained with our knight. The knight asked her about her absence, but she barely responded, keeping her distance. Confused by her actions, the knight decided to back off and give her space, watching from afar, though he had no idea she was showing interest in the other knight.

Then, one night—the same night he had discovered the village and met the village girl—he felt the sting of betrayal. He saw them together, deep in the woods far to the north, unaware of where they were headed. Curiosity led him to follow them, and after an hour of trailing them, he saw a shadow of horrors appear in-front of them.

Instead of sounding the alarm, the knight hid in the woods, witnessing something he could never have imagined. The knight he once trained with was holding a grimoire, a book said to bend daemons to its will, while the village girl, now besides the other knight, laughing as he chanted dark magic.

Devastated, the knight felt as though his insides were being torn apart. The pain was unlike anything he had ever known, as if someone dear to him had died. Numb to physical pain, he didn’t alert the garrison. Instead, he launched an attack to defeat his former comrade and free the village girl from his grasp. But after his attempt, the village girl showed no sign of being saved. Instead, she appeared liberated, as if free from the shackles of her past.

Months later, presumed dead, the knight returned to the garrison. His appearance was haggard, his armor worn, his shield battered, his sword broken, and his body bloodied—but alive. The villagers were flabbergasted by his return, but at what cost? The knight had lost his sanity. Not only had he failed to defeat the traitor, but he had also failed to save the village girl.

The knight reported to the capital, seeking to demote himself, choosing to leave the kingdom's service. He settled in a small hut in a remote village to the east, where there were fewer people and less activity—an ideal place to live in hiding. He vented his resentment on the wild animals he hunted to ease the pain of the unexpected betrayal. Then one day, the village girl appeared, seemingly summoned by dark magic, at the knight's doorstep. She greeted him as if nothing had happened.

Anger surged within him, and he nearly slapped her. How could she act so casually after everything that had transpired? The knight was consumed by rage as the village girl said, "Im genuinely worried of you." But there was no apology, no recognition of her betrayal. The knight, furious, drew his blade—a gift from his majesty as a parting gift, said to cut through metals like butter and is imbued with light magic by the priest, effective to daemons. He spoke, his voice filled with pain and anger, pointing the blade at her: "You came all this way to greet me, and the audacity of you to say 'worry' when you betrayed me! The feeling of being stabbed by someone you thought you could trust... I loved you. I thought we would be together, and after my promotion, we would marry and have children."

Taking a deep breath, the knight relaxed, controlled his emotions and lowering his blade before adding: "Leave. Never return. But I hope I will be the last person you betray, as if I were just a convenient watchdog to you."

The village girl showed dismay briefly then left with a bittersweet smile, vanishing into black smoke without saying a word. The knight composed himself after the encounter, which he had never expected after so many months. One thing he knew for sure: "Never trust too much, for it will be the end of you. Even the most loyal companion can become deadly once they back-stab you."

From that moment on, the knight swore never to show weakness again. He isolated himself from others, coping and healing piece by piece. He became a lone wolf, slowly rising from the ashes of the once valiant knight he had been.

"Betrayed by the very thing the knight swore to uphold and stick through thick & thin, deceived over a false hope caused by the perplexing gestures, and precisely what he treasured the most is the cause of his downfall"
