I wasn't expecting a roughly 2-hour long horror game to worm it's way into my brain as easily as this one did, but boy did it ever. An excellent psychological horror story concerning narcissism, abuse and alienation.

People decrying this expansion as the downfall of FFXIV are genuine crackheads, considering Stormblood exists.

The dungeons, trials, and raids so far are miles ahead a good 60% of the content found in the preceding expansion, if not in aesthetics, then in the fact that they're actually a marked increase in difficulty and a genuine challenge. I welcome the developers actually treating us like players who have cleared 4 previous expansions worth of content.

Art direction and OST is primo ♥♥♥♥ as usual, however audio mixing during MSQ cutscenes is hit or miss. Why does Y'shtola sound so much more tinny than the rest of the cast? Wuk Lamat's VA is fine, by the way. I do feel that her VA could stop holding back whenever it's time for a loud, emotional scream or yell, but besides that she delivers a good performance overall. I struggle to believe that people aren't being overly critical of Sena Bryer's performance because she's trans, considering a few right-wing grifters have posted about this game in the past month.

The MSQ is pretty good, might have a couple pitfalls, but still solid. I reiterate that the haters must once again be smoking crack when Stormblood is right there and far worse in many respects. Are you really going to tell me Wuk Lamat is a worse protagonist than ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LYSE??? That aside, the story is a 2-part affair, the first half being what is easily summed up as FFXIV's Shonen Anime Tournament Arc, and the 2nd half a return to some larger stakes that one will find to be more in line with previous expansions. I'm really curious to see where they take the story now in the patches to come, especially given the events of the final area in the story.

Overall a very fun expac. Despite any nitpicks I might have, it was definitely worth resubbing again and locking in for the MSQ and current endgame content, it's a treat.

Much, much more enjoyable of an experience gameplay-wise than my time spent playing FES or Portable. However, I will say that even on Hard Mode the difficulty was incredibly forgiving, and I doubt it's much harder for a newbie to SMT or it's spinoffs either, unless you're just really new to JRPGs. Aside from the first Full Moon boss and getting sloppy once or twice with monitoring my HP in Tartarus random battles, I don't think I ever really wiped out to any enemies in this game, even the final boss or the optional Monad Passage "superbosses". I'm sure you can squeeze a much harder experience out of this game with Merciless difficulty or solo/other kinds of challenge runs, but the casual player should not have many issues completing the game.

I mostly credit the game's lax difficulty to Theurgies, as despite the fact they are a very fun limit-break mechanic to use, they really do break this game's difficulty in half the second you acquire them, as the damage skills basically turn into insta-kills the second you have buffs or charges, and the healing/support skills are get-out-of-jail free cards, especially since ♥♥♥♥♥'s don't even waste the turn of whoever she activates them with. This is basically the same issue SMTV had with the Crit Magatsuhi skill. I do like Theurgies, but perhaps they could have handled them a little better (maybe lock the Massive damage modifier on single-target skills behind Persona Awakenings, and lower them to Heavy beforehand?). Hamaon and Mudoon are still very potent Game Over inducers if used by enemies, but the game also gives you more than enough Homonculi items and Endure accessories to power through this, I only ran out of Homunculi after killing The Reaper in the game's final week.

I will freely admit to not having experienced Megami Ibunroku or the Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment duology yet, but out of the 3 most recent Persona games (excluding spinoffs), 3 definitely still has the best story in my opinion, even after almost 2 decades. If the story or characters felt a little bare in earlier versions of the game, Reload definitely puts a LOT of effort into remedying this through all the new ways to spend time with every member of SEES and even one or two new non-combat events with Strega. Every character feels far more fleshed out now through this wealth of new social content, and this is especially welcome for those like Shinjiro or Ken who did not get as much screentime in the original game.

The new EN voice cast all do excellent work, and I honestly feel weird going back and hearing half of the old VAs after spending my time on this new remake. Besides a couple tracks I have minor bedroom producer dweeb issues with (why did they do the drums in Unavoidable Battle like that, even after improving the bass guitar?), Atsushi Kitajo handles remastering/arranging all of Shoji Meguro's original work perfectly fine, and his new contributions to the OST are great as well; Color Your Night, in particular, is amazing.

I was gifted this, so I'm not going to try and put my towel in the ring regarding the game's $70 USD price tag or it's impending $35 USD expansion pass you'll have to pay just to play The Answer. Regardless, if you're a fan of older ports of P3, or any later entries in the series, I feel you really owe it to yourself to play this, regardless if you have to wait for a sale or otherwise. It may not have a FemC route and The Answer from FES isn't playable yet, but for experiencing the original story that was present on it's 2006 PS2 release, this is the definitive experience imo.

You know I hate to ask,
But are lesbians electric?

Really good survival horror, I also now want to give ADLR a big hug. Uncritical support for our fictional failwife malewives.

If you've played the gacha, expect the MSQ of this to basically be a glorified sidestory length-wise, probably about 10-15 hours, give or take. I haven't touched GBF in about 4 years now, but besides like one, maybe two?, 5-second callbacks to some more recent characters from the main game, you should be absolutely fine following along with this game's story as a newbie; it's pretty self-contained and you can get up to speed with the world and featured characters anyway with Lyria's Journal and the first few Fate Eps for each playable character.

It's a really fun Action RPG, even though the MSQ might feel a little short, but it more than makes up for it with it's post-game, I've just unlocked Extreme difficulty quests as of writing this, but even once I get to Maniac and whatever's beyond, I can see myself still putting many, many hours into this just getting lost spamming quests.

All the characters are pretty fun to play in their own right, and the way they've translated their skills from turn-based to action RPG works really well. Off the top of my head, Narmaya and Lancelot feel right at home if you've played DMC, while Rackam and Eugen make me miss Dragalia Lost and it's gun-using characters. Siegfried and Ghandagoza have timing mechanics to their basic attacks that feel like I'm playing Hi-Fi Rush lite.

Really glad this game finally came out. I'm really happy I can enjoy this IP again without enduring gachapon hell (GW grinding should be classified as a war crime).

While the story isn't anything to really write home about, the small named cast of characters is actually pretty charming.
The real thing that drew me to this game though was the squad mechanic; this game feels like it took my dream of mashing Fire Emblem's focus on individual characters with Langrisser's squad mechanics and made it real, and it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules.

Easily my new favorite indie SRPG.

This game almost got me to invest time into it, even after I swore off other gachas I played.

No point giving it a try anymore though if Project Moon is gonna give in to reactionary anime coomers.

Still love my bug boy Gregor though.

I'm usually not a big fan of CRPGs but damn if this one didn't finally get its hooks into me after sitting in my Steam Library for almost 2 years.

Kim Kitsuragi is the character of all time. Also, just pirate it at this point I guess, with all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going on with the studio and the core creative team that were ousted.

Oh hey, a boomer shooter revival game for those like me, people in their mid 20s on ADHD medication. Also the only modern game I've personally played that has successfully managed to recapture that PSX 3D aesthetic.

Considering Act 2 one upped Act 1 with it's levels (I enjoy Chapter 4 being a shoutout to Powerslave, both the game and Iron Maiden album), I'm pretty hyped to see what ACT 3 GODFIST SUICIDEEEE will bring.

Also I need the Gabriel dakimakura in my life, please donate to my GoFundMe at bonequest.com/
