A Classic JRPG Experience, Now More Accessible Than Ever

Suikoden I & II are finally back, and it's great to see more players getting the chance to experience these legendary RPGs. Suikoden II, in particular, is a masterpiece—one of the best JRPGs ever made, with an incredible story, memorable characters, and a fantastic soundtrack.

The remaster does a solid job of modernizing the visuals while staying true to the original charm. The updated character portraits look great, and the improved resolution makes the world feel more vibrant. The new quality-of-life features, like the ability to speed up battles, are a welcome addition.

That said, I do wish they had revamped the inventory system in Suikoden I—it’s still as tedious as ever. Managing items across characters feels clunky and outdated. But aside from that, the core gameplay, compelling storytelling, and epic army battles hold up remarkably well.

Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, this collection is absolutely worth playing. These are two of the best JRPGs ever made, now in a more accessible package. Highly recommended!

Easiest $60 I've ever spent.

We can be all poetic and just lose our minds together.

The dedication and attention to detail in this remake are simply astounding. It's remarkable how it not only honors the original but elevates it to new heights. The enhancements, including new systems and quality-of-life improvements, have made the game exceptionally playable. Combat has been transformed; it's now smooth and responsive, a significant upgrade from the occasionally clunky feel of the original PS1 game. The introduction of fast travel and the removal of random encounters are welcome changes that streamline the experience.

I wholeheartedly give it a 10/10. This remake is a must-play, whether you're discovering the series for the first time or revisiting it. It's absolutely worth the investment.

Can we please get a Xenogears remake with this level of care and detail?

Edit: Just wrapped up my first playthrough, and the game maintained its excellence from when I first reviewed it at 20 hours in. Ready for round two!

Fun game, I just finished creating my character. Now I can see what all the hype is about.

Its not a yes or a no, its a maybe. If you enjoy JRPG's and Tales games, you'll probably enjoy this. Combat is pretty, and plays like other Tales games.

The first 30 or so hours is pretty good, pacing gets kinda wonky after that. I would much prefer a 2 hour solid cut scene than having to walk for like 10 seconds to trigger another 10-20 minute talk, and then have to walk another 10 seconds to trigger another scene, but that's just me.

Fun game to turn your brain off to.

Its FF6 with better graphics, and better music. <3

Fun game to kill a few hours, I'll probably check it out again once they've added some more tiles to unlock.

10/10 - Would commit tax evasion again.
