Today you've carved another foothold in the long climb to Liberty.

At the present time only a period of around a year is playable. The game begins in early 1915, at the end of that early period of WWI characterised by movement warfare, right as the high morales associated with the early victories and the illusion of a short conflict begin to wane and extensive trench systems begin to appear across the whole front as it stabilizes. The first part of the game will bring you through the first year of trench warfare until early 1916.

The game feels like a nice rough gem which still has to go through some polishing phases, there are occasional bugs and some parts of the game might feel a little empty, like the frontline part which is the most recent addition and still has to be worked on. Overall even at this stage the game provides a fun and unique experience, especially if you're interested in the period and in how soldiers lived, fought and died during the Great War.

In my belief the strength of this game is the ability to fill a void into which little to no other games adventured so far. It relies on the uniqueness of taking a war strategy game and putting the player in the shoes of a lower officer surviving through the conflict and looking to bring his men through it in one piece. Your units are not just numbers on the screen going up and down as they move through a map or grind themselves against a chit with another set of changing numbers. It leaves the statistical aspect of the war in the generals' room and replaces it with the personal, emotional, human approach of the frontlines.

Absolutely recommended, even at this stage.

Hands down best HoI game

There's a bit of game in my fraudulent extortion scheme program!

A refreshing experience and a clear labor of love, passion and research.
I'm in serious need of more historical adventure / RPG games.
There's a whole niche of history autists here which simply doesn't get explored enough.
It always has to be the same repetitive fantasy settings, this game was like an oasis in the desert.

If Reddit was a game.

The game is addicting, compelling and often hard as hell and unforgiving.
Get it if you like management, RPG elements and turn-based hex fights.
I moreso feel compelled to leave a positive review because it's worth to mention that this house keeps updating the game and releasing large content after 5 years and made their entire last DLC free for everyone. Their user policy is fantastic and bigger houses should only learn from them.
All things considered it deserves an Extremely Positive rating.
